It is really just the vocals that are bothering me. But they really bother me.

Agreed. It’s like Ed smoked two packs of unfiltered cigarettes an hour before walking into the booth. Perhaps his weakest studio performance
there is no way this is his weakest studio performance
yeah this is baffling to me. I get not liking the vocal melody, but he sounds good
He most certainly does not
Yeah...he sounds really, really bad.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

2 listens in. This song is forgettable. I doubt I will ever seek this song out to play individually. A good song would hook you from the beginning. This definitely doesn’t. The riff and last minute breakdown isn’t bad but thats not good enough. Just disappointing. Too Backspacer, too cookie cutter. Expectations very much lowered for the rest of the album. Hopefully something else on the album will fill my need for dark atmospheric riffs and goddamn energetic anger. No more of this pop punk.

I don’t hate it, but Ed’s just a little too up front in the mix for me to love it. He fades back during the Superblood Wolf Moon parts and it works much better.

There are some interesting transitions and the song is “fun” like Big Wave is “fun”.

I'd rather listen to the 10 second teaser on loop for 4 min straight

Get Right - not a fan of this song when it came, but compared to modern Pearl Jam, it's a solid song. I get the comparison to SBWM.
All Night - this is fantastic. Don't hear any SBWM here.
Johnny Guitar - gets better every year, great for modern Pearl Jam. SBWM has a similar feel to it.
Black, Red, Yellow - this is the song LTRP wish it was. No SBWM here.
Olë - poor Ed performance. Song sounds rushed, like a poor version of MYM. No SBWM here.
Supersonic - not hearing SBWM here. Song is too frantic. Good melody gets crushed by the band and some poor lyrics. A shame.
Hitchiker - another LTRP/BRY-ish song. Kind of rolls and boogies. Ed has a very distinct vocal. Typical of the times it was made, yet I can see how his delivery can be compared to SBWM.
Leatherman - one of the worst Pearl Jam songs. No SBWM here.
Superblood Wolfmoon - better than most of the songs above.

If it’s a highlight, it’s probably a bad sign, but as album tracks go it’s pretty fun. I like Pearl Jam garage rockers that stumble, I like hearing the fuzz of the amps crack a little, and I like that dive bomb solo that doesn’t want to lift you up into the stratosphere.
Update: still this

It’s a 3. Some things to be encouraged by but a no where close to a perfect track by any means.

I've got news for you, buddy. They do it because they can. And this is one of the extents of their talent at work.

They're in their 50s now. Creative energy is usually gone in most people by their age. The fact that they're making music and seem to have a renewed passion with this album is better than we should expect by now.
'They do it because they can'.

Thanks for the info, buddy.

They're starting to destroy their own legacy.
Starting to destroy?

Have you listened to the last 3 albums?
Can't deny me, Olé, Dotc and Superblood Wolfmoon.

Their last 4 published songs.

Dramatic.

I would say it's middle of the pack here, but I also think that Johnny Guitar, Ole, and Supersonic are at the very bottom in terms of PJ material. It's probably behind the remaining songs.

Yeah, his voice sounds wrecked on this. I have no idea what people who are saying this is an improvement over the last however many years are hearing.

Still; I’m not loving this one. Feels like an ok song and a weird second single....but they are having fun for sure.
Pearl Jam have always been awful at doing "fun"

in terms of modern day PJ...

if DOTC is a 5
and CDM is a 0
then SBWM is a 3.
