He's not the small government saviour your looking for. He might be the worst candidate for that.
This is exactly the kind of ignorance Trump is counting on. Why do think he is so protective of Bernie?
I am not a Bloomberg supporter, but having spent nearly all of his administration living in NYC, he’s no Trump. Bloomberg is an incredibly efficient public servant (when he served in that role), and there were certain aspects I liked about him. He was present, as in he took the time to appreciate the work of the people in public service in the city throughout his term, and I think he wanted what he thought was best for the city, fiscal conservative but on social issues mostly on the left. He could often be calculating and cold...and his elections locally were nearly offensive in that there was some sort of resigned fate to the electorate not because he was so astounding at his job but because he seemed acceptable and no one really jumped up to challenge him. I didn’t agree with some things he did (stop and frisk, basically a full gentrification of the city), but he also stood up for what he thought was right (public benefits shouldn’t pay for soda). So a mixed bag and not nearly as catastrophic as the Bernie Bros make him sound. He certainly is not dangerously narcissistic in the manner that Trump is.

So I disagree with the assessment but I would say I am not particularly thrilled by him either. I would have no problem voting for him as against Trump.

This seems like progressives in a nutshell, so maybe Burt has been lying himself this whole time?
Yeah bro, we're just whining about things not being good enough, not worrying about people dying in the street because they cant afford insulin. You really got us.

I suspect Trump will act on this as well via exectuvie order to buy off senior voters.

Isn't this just going to make existing drugs cheaper but new ones more expensive. If you only have 20 years to recoup R&D expenses versus 40, the buyer is going to be hit in the pocketbook.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

If the others are smart it’ll be a dog pile. The debate stage is the one place his financial advantage doesn’t exist, and he’s got a litany of quotes and actions worth targeting.

This debate could be pretty entertaining if everyone turns on Bloomy.

Likely. It’s not as if they have anything else to offer but jealous condemnation

Butti may have the most to lose tonight

Attack Bloomy and lose out on a chance at a better job if he becomes pres

Don’t attack him and watch him take all your moderate supporters away

Bernie with the most to gain tonight

actually maybe Warren with the most to gain bc she fell off so hard

Both can just lay into Bloomy to rile their prog base

I mean, it’s much more nuanced than that. This is the reductive reasoning that divides Democrats and why the country believes Trump will win a second term.

but you can also vote for the less-racist, less-sexist one

who is also the one who has contributed billions to progressive causes

that's a thing too

the 'lesser evil'

Do you suppose Sanders is jealous he doesn't have a track record of racism?

What is fascinating about the past week is that it started with this all being wide open: Sanders in the lead, Buttigieg right there with him, Klobuchar making her case, Biden waiting for the south, Bloomberg lurking in the background, Warren down but not out... the narrative quickly switched to Bernie vs. Bloomy. I’ve seen this story before living through New York politics.
