Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
I’ve listened to it a handful more today and still dig it. I still don’t think it’s that closely related to another PJ song.
The solo is definitely better when you just ignore the solo and listen to everyone else.
Enjoying the Production of the two songs so far.

'time to jam, guys!' and then a quasi-Ramones wuss track starts playing
and they all do their Ramones/Who impression
and totally lose sight of the fact that they have put a song to print that sounds exactly like it 10 times before
'OK we did it! what a fun track! can't wait for people to hear this!'
There’s no need for Matt to start this song. Would’ve sounded better to jump in with everyone else.

Also, I do need to give credit to the production of this song. I'm glad things are looking up in that department for the upcoming album.

Ed sounds great. The production is great. The song has forward momentum and an interesting structure. This is one that so many people are going to feel stupid for originally hating when it clicks for them and they realize how wrong they have been.

I kind of like Olé, but haven't listened to it in quite a while. Gonna now and see.

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
I hope Who Ever Said transitions into DotC smoothly because I think I’m done with this one after about 10 listens. I like that they’re having fun with it but not my thing. Kind of goofy. I do like the “La la la” part. The solo is fun. Maybe not an insta-skip but I won’t seek it out.
I’m a little less excited for the rest of Gigaton. The impression I got from the listener party reviews was that this was supposedly one of the stronger tracks. Hope I’m wrong. If that’s the case, I’m fucked.
SBWM does make me appreciate DotC that much more. Novelty hasn’t worn off that one at all.

I think Olé is an enjoyable minor song. I wound't put it on the same level as Evacuation or Big Wave but it has some real power and propulsion and takes a few interesting twists and turns. It's nothing earth-shattering but it's fun and it rocks.stip wrote:what does Ole have going for it (besides the solo/call and response outro, both of which are pretty cool) that this doesn't, in your eyes?Birds in Hell wrote:It’s no Olé, unfortunately.stip wrote:im genuinely surprised the spenno didnt like it. the man likes ole, for crying out loud
I should ask myself the same question. I think of these songs as cut from a reasonably similar cloth, and I like this and don't like Ole.

If they were, they'd play them live.
Plain and simple.
Never noticed this forum was full of entitled a-holes until today.

New music always reminds me how easily people on this board get embarrassed and/or feel something is worthy of cringing.

Guilty. Life is hard for me. My office is basically a cave and I still manage to find cringe worthy moments throughout the day.
