Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
Liked the clip a lot. Upon first listen of full song I didn’t know what to think. At the moment I enjoy everything except the “now get off the stage” and other half screamed parts. They really annoy me. Sometime around ST they started doing things that didn’t set well with my ears. I’ve been a fan since Ten but from ST on I’ve approached the albums like “I know this sucks but I’m a diehard so I’ll keep living in the PJ bubble). My problem in all honesty is Ed’s voice. I understand his style of singing in the past is why he sounds like does now, I just wish he would adapt the writing to suit his current ability. I watched a video of Given to Fly at the Gorge in 06 and I’ve never heard him sing better. Fast forward to 2014 and he pronounces words like he has a speech impediment. I’m not making fun, just can’t help but notice it. What would cause that? Anyways, I actually am pretty pumped about Gigaton, and even with my current relationship with SBWM I’m more excited for this album than anything since Riot Act. DOTC is so good to me that if it’s the only song I love on the album I’m ok with that. For perspective my album order, from favorite to least favorite is Yield, VS, Vitalogy, Ten, No Code, Binaural, Riot Act, Backspacer, Lightning Bolt, ST

Stip: I think the last phrase may need a tweak or two also. I’m working on it.

Superblood Wolfmoon, took her away too soon
Superblood Wolfmoon, took her away too soon
I can hear you, sing in the distance
I can see you when I close my eyes
Once you were somewhere, and now you're everywhere
I'm feeling selfish and I want what's right
I ask for forgiveness, I'm begging myself
feeling angry, now get off the stage
Right now I feel, a lack of innocence searching for reveal
hypnotonic resonance I feel
not much of anything, and the cause is life or death
A life of hopelessness, focus onfucks all your focusedness
I've been hoping that a hope does last
I don't know anything, I question everything
This life I love is going way too fast
Both my eyes are swollen
my face is broken
And I'm hopin that I hurt your
hopin that I hurt your
hopin that I hurt your fist
She was a stunner, and I am stunned
And the first thought or second thought was 'could be the one'
I was a prisoner, of keys and of cuffs
Yeah I was feeling fortunate to be locked up
But the world got to spinnin, always felt like it was ending
and love not withstanding we are each of us fucked
I'm in danger, feelin the distance
I can see you when I close my eyes
Once you were somewhere, and now you're everywhere
I'm feeling selfish and I want what's right
I ask for forgiveness, I'm begging myself
feelin angry now get off the stage
Superblood Wolfmoon, took her away too soon
Superblood Wolfmoon, took her away too soon
Superblood Wolfmoon, took her away too soon
I can hear you, seensing in the distance
I can see you when I close my eyes
Once you were somewhere, and now you're everywhere
I'm feeling selfish and I want what's right
Focus on your focusness, to a life of hopeless’s
I've been hoping and I hope that lasts
I don't know anything, I question everything
This life I love is going way too fast

Now that you mention Cornell, I can really see it in the lyrics.

I felt this way two and thought I was crazy. I feel like it is about the loss of maybe two people but Chris came to mind right away. Then I thought it was about a wave. Then the the " why did you hit me" l from state of love and trust. So I do t know I felt this was about Chris right away. I also remember a audioslave song about howling at the moon I think I will try to figure that out.PHATJ wrote:Holy shit, you guys. It’s fairly evident and obvious which lyrics could reference him. Hint: it’s at least half of them.Ms Harmless wrote:I'm gonna need someone to present their evidence for Chris Cornell, lyric by lyric

what about the outliers? who / what else is it about, and what connects them? I don't get how "she was a stunner" or the whole punching thing is relevant

Going to be a serious drag to see every lyric on this album analysed through the prism of whether it's about Chris Cornell.

there's a fair bit you need to explain away for this to fit, though. Like the fact that the object of the song seems to be female, to start.PHATJ wrote:It’s fairly evident and obvious which lyrics could reference him.
