I think saying “took her way too soon” instead of “away too soon” may be slightly better though.

Well the first one is still the same amount of syllables either way so we’re splitting atoms here.Lounge Lizard wrote:Syllables. He meant syllables.scrub12 wrote:Neither of those sound better to me. They really should have focused the whole song around the la da da part

Getaway is redeemed, just barely, because of Jeff.
Well, technically yes, but on his bass.

Yeah, I think the actual problem some people have with it is the meter. The syllables are fine.scrub12 wrote:Took her away too soon and she was taken too soon are the same amount of syllables.Lounge Lizard wrote:Wait, "she was taken too soon" and "I lost her too soon" are the same amount of syllables?scrub12 wrote:Well the first one is still the same amount of syllables either way so we’re splitting atoms here.Lounge Lizard wrote:Syllables. He's not cramming too many words/syllables in, he's just forced to put emphasis on the wrong part of "away", which makes it sound awkward. You would have the same awkwardness with "I lost her too soon" because it doesn't fit properly. "She was taken too soon" fits in perfectly, but I don't know that it would actually sound any better. I don't mind the odd bit of awkwardness like this in a fun song.

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
If anything, I would've added one more "La da da" section right before "She was a stunner" (and I probably will when I get a chance).
Then again, I don't make better music, nor better music decisions than these guys, so another turd in the wind I guess.
The song is fine you bunch of sourpusses

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
Why do people think the part that repeats twice is the chorus and not the part that repeats four times and ends the song?Farmer John wrote:As far as the structure, I'm calling the "Superblood Wolfmoon took her away too soon" parts the chorus. The solo section is the bridge. Not sure what to call the "la la la" part since it's kind of like the chorus but without the lyrics.
The rest is all verses the keep building into different parts.

I have my reservations about "Superblood Wolfmoon" but I'll take it over "Getaway" eight days a week. "Superblood," for me, is nowhere near the worst of "LB."McParadigm wrote:This take mesmerizes me. It doesn't matter except for people knowing what you mean if you say "I like the chorus".mikejasond wrote:Why do people think the part that repeats twice is the chorus and not the part that repeats four times and ends the song?Farmer John wrote:As far as the structure, I'm calling the "Superblood Wolfmoon took her away too soon" parts the chorus. I like how it's hard to agree which part of the song is what.

Shit, you are correct. When I hear things like that it just seems like lazy writing/singing.
