Bernie and Warren both have the zest to fight back

I think Bernie is more consistent

I think Warren is more erratic

I think Trump can get her off her game (see: DNA test) and then it's game over for all of us

I don't think Trump can get Bernie off his game

I agree with these sentiments. Bernie is so locked into his talking points that nothing can push him off his game and message. Its maddening, but i know how much it would benefit him up against the moron.

She beat the incumbent the DNC invited in. She is her own electoral animal. I would be shocked if she doesn’t win again and handily.

The DNC has invited insurgency. In 1996, 24% of democrats identified as liberal and 53% as moderate. By 2018, 51% identified as liberal. The party changed in a way that risked the backing of the donor class, and the leadership responded by digging deeper trenches.

Part of a political party leadership circle’s job is to find ways to bring each internal group to the table. A party is just a coalition of semi-like-minded people who can get more of what each of them wants by working together and compromising. You can’t treat the majority group as essentially a problem for the rest of you to solve without eventually shattering your own power structure.

You definitely don't shove Mike Bloomberg down their throats.

Agree, but I think there is a clear distinction between liberal (Pelosi) and progressive (the squad), so whatever the 51% makeup is suspected be some of them need another category.

I do wonder sometimes how Pelosi feels about being pressured from the left. She was the left flank in the 90s/early 00s (within the party). But I think it just highlights the leftward trend MCP is talking about. Pelosi is older than even Bernie. Times have changed and I don't think the Dem Party has done a good job keeping up. (For the record I have a lot of respect for Pelosi).

People can hate on Bernie and "the squad" all they want, but as McP said, the party didn't respond properly to the trends, and now the younger half of the country is responding themselves. And they have good reason to be upset. No matter what happens in this election, the evidence is clear that Millennial's feel they've gotten a raw deal and are supporting this newer progressive wing. Age is as big a divide as any in this country, which is why I am hopeful for the future no matter what's happening now. I'm not a millennial myself, but it's a smart generation that will eventually take over and fix a lot of the issues we have. They'll create new problems, for sure. The cycle never ends. But at the very least I think the absurdity of drowning in debt because you got sick, or got an education, or had a kid... I think they understand that's wrong.

yeah I think Pete wanted to avoid bashing Bloomy bc his supporters have crossover (and he might want a job from him in the future) so he decided to go after a ‘weaker’ link
