Rob wrote:That last question of the debate is bugging me. Why have we listened to democrats say for 3 years that the person with the most votes should win, but when it comes to their own nomination process, that shouldn’t apply? I mean, if one person had 30% and another 28%, ok, that’s close and maybe there should be a process. But it sounded to me like they just flat out rejected the idea that the winner is the one with the most votes.

this is the election where it becomes very clear the DNC is full if shit

the superdelegates shouldnt exist

instead the feudal lords will select their king
96583UP wrote:everyone wants to criticize the electoral college

meanwhile, peel back the Democratic Party nomination process and you won’t have to go far to find out it is fundamentally undemocratic in cases where a candidate receives less than 50%

the superdelegates get to decide. and the superdelegates are bound to nothing. they can have conflicts of interest. candidates can donate to superdelegates’ wives’ charities. candidates can promise them jobs. quid pro quo. nothing having to do with the will of the people.

these state primaries are near meaningless

if the progs want to use their twitter shaming powers for good then they should get out in front of this

express a preference that superdelegates vote proportionally in line with the delegate vote count

and refuse quid pro quos

you don't say?!?
LAS VEGAS — Mike Bloomberg is privately lobbying Democratic Party officials and donors allied with his moderate opponents to flip their allegiance to him — and block Bernie Sanders — in the event of a brokered national convention.

The effort, largely executed by Bloomberg’s senior state-level advisers in recent weeks, attempts to prime Bloomberg for a second-ballot contest at the Democratic National Convention in July by poaching supporters of Joe Biden and other moderate Democrats, according to two Democratic strategists familiar with the talks and unaffiliated with Bloomberg.

The outreach has involved meetings and telephone calls with supporters of Biden and Pete Buttigieg — as well as uncommitted DNC members — in Virginia, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and North Carolina, according to one of the strategists who participated in meetings and calls.

With Sanders’ emergence as the frontrunner in the presidential primary, Democrats in those states have recently raised the prospect that the democratic socialist could be a top-of-the-ticket liability.

“There’s a whole operation going on, which is genius,” said one of the strategists, who is unaffiliated with any campaign. “And it’s going to help them win on the second ballot … They’re telling them that’s their strategy.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the election changes once the primary is over and it’s more about what the candidates are proposing for the country.

so is it better for Warren to stay in the rest of this and do Bernie's dirty work for him (i.e. overt character assassination against other candidates) while Bernie gets to take the high road, or for her to quit now and pledge her support for him in the hopes he comes closer to a 50% victory margin?

she got 10% in NV

bernie ~50%

that's an important slice of the pie there
