Listening to this then right into DOTC is just fantastic.
Guys, it might be happening. Maybe. Pearl Jam may have gotten back on track.

Not sure if this has been covered over 100 pages but I hear the line as "I can hear you, singin' in the distance." I didn't at first but he definitely says "singin" not "sing."
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

I really like when Ed gets nasally sounding in this song.

Think about other songs that have earned a 4 star rating before you do. It's moving up in my ears/mind too. It's knocking on 3's door.Strat wrote:Im kind of ready to give this song a 4 star rating but im a little nervous about that.

That's why im nervous. Im not really good at ranking. The only thing I know is Binaural is easily my favorite. And i suspect that 3 and 4 star songs are quite interchangeable. I also know that Unthought Known and Amongst the Waves suck and Lightning Bolt is my least favorite record.Hatfield wrote:Think about other songs that have earned a 4 star rating before you do. Everything else? Hmm.

This is something we haven’t been able to say in a really long time. And, I agree with you. This song improves a lot with it being turned up to 11.Leatherhead wrote:These guitars sound so amazing when turned up loud.

Yes headphones this and DOTC sound like they're in 3D .... the bass level is strong
speakers haven't been nearly the same unless at 5X volume
and probably also because my speakers are not audiophile grade
but it's like a totally different experience loud or on headphones

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
Coming back to this song after a day or two off I can confirm my opinion that it is a solid 3-stars from me.
While this garage-y style might not be many people's favourite version of modern PJ, this is definitely the best they've done with it. A lot of criticism from the last two albums was that they needed to loosen up and have actual fun rather than whatever fun sounds like after it's been rehearsed and BoB'd to within an inch of its life. That is what this song is - a loose, fun, crunchy rock song that doesn't take itself too seriously. A bit of an odd choice for second single and the coveted song-2 spot on the album, but then again DotC was an odd choice for a first single so it's good to see the band stepping away from the ingrained patterns of the last 3 album release campaigns. Overall I think I'm most excited by the mixing/production of the two songs we've heard so far
I still think SBWM is about a mentally/developmentally-challenged guy (or perhaps just an incel?) obsessing over and then approaching a woman in the street and being rebuked/punched. The lyrics are quite schizophrenic - he alternates between hissy-fit and self-pity, and the tenses are all screwed up. I must say it's nice to have a PJ song that warrants such close dissection/interpretation of lyrics for a change.
Final thought for now, I had a good laugh looking through some of the comments I saw on Facebook about this song the other day, things along the lines of:
"This is better than that electronic crap"
"This could fit on Vs"
"This is about Chris Cornell"
That last one made me LOL and then I saw that some of you bozos suggested the same thing in this thread - you cannot be serious?!!

Hmm, I think I noticed this today, too, but couldn't actually place the song it was reminding me of, and this might be it. Now I better go check.

and then the chord change appears later on without la la la's on top of it
