I just want to say that this album is so far beyond any expectations I had. Goddamn.

After the dip that is Amongst the Waves, the last half of the album just fucking murders me.

This album is a fantastic example of how versatile the band is. I also think it's a great sign when a lot of us have different favorite songs. That's when you know there's not a dud on it.

Just Breathe 10/10: I can't think of a better slow PJ song, except Black. Its beautiful. I've been on a alt country kick lately, and this would fit right in.

Does everyone hate Unthought Known now? I think it's Backspacer's obvious highlight for me.

Yeah, at this point I can understand eye-rolling at it on the album. But at a show, goddamn, I'll take it every time.

It is my hope that if Gigaton is truly well received it causes Backspacer to be revisited and appreciated for what it is and does so well. It's been 10 years. It's time.

I don't think Pearl Jam have made an album that comes as close to my own internal, creative musical tendencies as this one. It's like it's come beamed from another planet, the Pearl Jam I thought might've existed but never would - well, here they are.

The initial lusty infatuation might wane but I'm hoping it ripens into deeper layers of familiar, comforting love.
