After many listens, it is still obnoxious. The worst is the super long "EAAAAHHHHHHHHHH" right before the solo. Regardless, the song has gotten better for me. It needs to be played on good headphones or cranked up on good speakers.
Yes, that is definitely the worst part of the song. Reminds me of something he would add onto a song performed live these days. Otherwise, I agree, it has gotten better for me too.
That part is great, kind of loose approach instead of the micro calculated way that everyone wants to take in a studio record. Feels organic.

For me the worst part is still how he sings "fast" in the end of the song. But seems like people like it, so thats ok.

yeah, I like the "fast" ending, it feels archetypally Pearl Jam to me; during No Code or Yield they would have jammed those two chords out a bit and got quieter and quieter

so if their first plan was to have this guy make a Tiny Concert vid for SBWM because it would fit the style, maybe that was the main / only reason it was made a single

I don't really understand this complaint. It fits with the pacing of the song and there are very few spots where it causes it to sound awkward.
Plus the lyrics are interesting. At this point I think Eddie's performance is actually a standout feature of the song

So many people's least liked parts of the song are my favorite parts.

I think his voice sounds wobbly and speak-singy, not smooth at times, but whereas that approach didn't work (for me) in the last couple of albums -- which had a very melodic and clean aesthetic everywhere else -- it works here, with the slightly messier and rawer production; it feels a bit like an older approach to a vocal style like DTE, but without the screechiness of GSMF

The only thing about the vocal that I'm not in love with is the doubling/echoing on random words. That's what makes it sound like the last two records or CDM more than S/T or previous. Take out those "echo" dubs or whatever they're called and I think this thing improves by a lot.

that makes sense, yeah; I think there's only a couple of places those occur when Ed goes high right? I'd prefer that he just didn't try anymore; most of the song is in his range

the dubs I really like are the "la la las" overlapping; the same thing (to different effect) is happening in DOTC, it reminds me of the vocal layering of WMA or In My Tree and has me excited to see where else it's applied; "7 0'Clock" maybe?

I think his vocal choices have been good so far. SBWM shows some obvious wear and tear - but overall he puts in a pretty good performance.
Hopefully there's no Supersonic type song on the album cause that's where his voice just goes to total shit.

if it's there I have a feeling it'll be "Never Destination"; I'm tempted to get that song out the way first on my first listen

Totally agree here. Those dubs are wonderful.

Those overdubs aren't even very high notes for him, he sings them pretty easily still. Just for extra effect perhaps, certainly nothing much higher than some other parts of the song which aren't overdubbed.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Looking forward to the La La La part live - will it be just Ed ?

Both new songs present wonderful opportunity for the entire band to step up to their respective mics and fill out the sound in the vocal arrangements. I really hope they do this.

I told you guys from the start this was a good song. And I immediately predicted people would change their minds from initially disliking it. It does everything right that similar-ish songs on the last couple albums did so wrong. And to those complaining about too many lyrics and/or Ed’s vocal, you are wrong too. Ed did this one justice, and so did the band.
