I'm scared to watch this. I'm too primed to hate it.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
It’s a very strong television programme. I really expect not to like it very much because it wasn’t Picard onboard the Enterprise with the usual cast of characters, but the world they’re building here is really great. I find that I don’t miss the familiar cast or surroundings at all. And for all the roles he’s played in his life, Jean-Luc Picard is the character he was born to portray. This only cements it.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

I like the show. I feel like only Stewart could carry it through its world building issues and the need for Picard to keep apologizing for things that weren't his fault. I'm not sure what that is all about.

I'm diggin everything so far. They're building a great story from a massive horrific incident. It doesn't have a tv show feel to it, the swearing helps with that. Also that Romulan gettin' decapitated in the last ep too.
and although they blew the surprise in the trailers, I didn't expect to see Seven so soon.
51 and still hot af.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
Ok I’m up to episode three and now I know what people mean when they’re watching th new Star Wars and they come back cringing going ‘bashed over the head with ‘heres that thing from before that you love! Here it is to pointlessly remind you of the story you used to love and this is part of it!’
The call backs are overbearing but not off putting entirely.
The story and direction though. It veers wildly from great to really bad.
About to watch ep 4

Looking forward to everyone's feelings on the eye ball scene from the last episode of Saw errr I mean Picard. It's an odd feeling that I can't watch this or Discovery with my kids.

Directed by Frakes.
I remember an interview where he admitted that he’d wanted First Contact to be “darker”....I assume this was what he wanted to do with the opening sequence there.
But never mind the gore…the episode around it was a missed opportunity.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
apparently there's a prequel comic that explains what went on after Next Generation and before Picard.

You don’t even realize how fucking tiresome and redundant you are. That’s the sad part. Can’t even be angry it’s just not worth it. It’s more pity you then pissed at you.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
Contemplating tapping out at this point. It’s counterintuitive, but it feels like the first episode is still the best of what we’ve gotten so far. Each week discovers new lazy TV writing tropes (“I’ll stay behind to buy you time, but they don’t even get here until after we’ve had time to share a touching goodbye, and also they can’t use the equipment you used to escape so...”), delivered on hilariously low effort sets, and it increasingly feels like WB Battlestar.

That end sequence didn't make any sense but at this point I gotta see where it's all going.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
Considering that there are only like 10 episodes and we're already halfway through, I will stick with this, even though I think it's been a snoozefest for big stretches and confounding in others. It's driven me to return to TNG, though, and I'm listening to a watch-along podcast for that's been great, so there's a positive at least.
