Rural areas are almost completely isolated from this. Corona is going after the sanctuary cities. MAGA

Nah. Most rural areas are built into an endlessly mobile agriculture supply chain. They are also places where more or less everybody has direct or indirect contact with everybody else, and many of your necessities, favorite places, or friends might be in another town 10 miles away. There’s constant traffic between towns. “We live in Canova, but the grocery store and old folks home where mom is are in Howard, and the closest church for our denomination is in Madison. I’m not going to stop going to church at a time when there are locust plagues and epidemics!” Madison is a college town, as well, so it’s a traffic hub. I can pick the virus up there and spend 10 days unknowingly spreading it around Canova AND Howard. The end.

Some rural pockets managed to avoid the Spanish flu, but not many, and the rural places that did get it had a much higher mortality rate than played out in cities.

Historical precedents don't matter as much in the modern integrated economy. Most grocery stores hold about 3 days of food under normal consumption patterns and rely on frequent restocks (sometimes daily), so you may still get your wish if/when panic sets in.
