The "ask for forgiveness,.. I beg of myself" line is vintage Ed. On first listen I didn't hear a chorus, now 60% of the song sounds like the chorus.

IIRC that's from the Wrigley performance, the first time the song was played. Just Ed's mics.

I kinda think it would've been cool to have the same echoey "superblood wolfmoon" vocals that are in the breakdown / initial clip, in the intro as well; they have that nice Ed's low register I feel the intro lacks

I'm still into this song

For what it's worth (not much), I've got a half dozen or so friends around my age who grew up on Pearl Jam but lost enthusiasm for their albums over the last ten or fifteen years. All of them really like both singles a lot, and there are a couple I figured would hate SBWM - quite the opposite.

Yup. But I have to also point other fingers at the band that let him ruin this song.

That's fair...i still don't think its a great song but that's infinitely more listenable than the shit they put on LB!

I can totally get on board with that. I love that section in the breakdown.

This song would work almost as well over teenwolf basketball footage as the fixer did over the rocky 4 training montage.
