I'm just glad Gigaton is saving us from the last 20 seconds of the last song on the last album being the lamest in the whole catalog.

But we still have to see how River Cross will end.

I can't lie. This solo version is far better than the album version. They could have taken this somewhere far more interesting.

Yea it is. A lot of this album could be much better stripped down like this.

This song should've been kept privately between Eddie and Jill and never shared with the world.

The very fact that this song was included on Lightning Bolt - and closes Lightning Bolt - is an example of how bad Lightning Bolt is

If you were to time travel back to 1994 and show Eddie Vedder this song - he would have quit music

This song sucks and is less than 1 star

To me it says how little amount of songs they had for LB.

The melody always sounds like a song children would sing at bible school at church

It's a terrible sappy deliberate song with sappy corn ball lyrics
Brendan O'Brien's production is a complete mess of adult contemporary vomit too

Occasional sappiness is fine. There are times you just want to sing a sappy song. There are almost two hundred other songs when you want something depressing or angsty or angry

I used to sing this to my younger daughter as a lullaby - lightning bolt came out shortly after she was born.

Thematically it is also a perfectly appropriate closing track to an album about middle aged worries about loss and the world you are are leaving behind for the people you care about.

this song doesn't suck as much as LB makes it suck; I'm OK with the schmaltzy sentimentality - mainly I just don't know why / how they let those piano bookends happen
