Also, who could have predicted that South Carolina would be the one sane state in the primaries?

You mean the one that happens to agree with your ancient viewpoints?

I would argue that broadly ignoring the economic and environmental concerns of a entire generation of kids is insane
It’s better than lying to them that you can fix it.

” First and most important, they need to ask him to define what Washington could and could not do under a Sanders administration, because his platform suggests no limit to the government’s power in many areas. (The main exceptions are in the government’s power to enforce criminal statutes and police the border.) Obliterate the health insurance industry? Sure! Give away electric cars? Of course! Stop all coal and gas extraction on federal lands and kneecap the domestic energy industry by banning fracking? With a snap of the fingers! Use trillions of federal tax dollars to build housing? Why not? Guarantee everyone a job? It’s about time!

“His proposals, if adopted, would result in a breathtaking federal intrusion into markets, substituting Washington’s priorities and federal taxpayers’ money for the choices that businesses and consumers have long been making themselves.”

wait is Biden anti-environment?

they signed up for the Paris climate accord and I think they gave like $70 B toward clean energy

over 50% quite a statement

I can't imagine the trauma you've all had to endure after three long years of Darth Trump's imperial rule, but seeing as how your lives probably haven't been materially affected in any way, it's safe to say you might survive a few more.

Meanwhile, if both parties basically cast off any pretense of the democratic election process, that might be a slightly bigger deal.

But vote blue no matter who!

I wonder if Biden's white moderate crossover appeal or Bernie's hispanic appeal would put the Dems in better position to turn Texas blue

This whole process is so completely bizarre and alien to me.

In Australia, the party just get together and pick a candidate as leader.

They’ll even (and in recent years have done so repeatedly) kick out elected and serving Prime Ministers to install someone preferable.

This specific process is only about 45 years old and probably won’t last another decade

Sane Person: Mr. Steyer, what does it feel like to take 49,000+ South Carolinian Dem primary votes and just throw them in the trash?

Steyer: Oh it was never about winning for me, I just wanted to get my message out. But I always said if there wasn't a path to victory I would drop out, and now I don't see a path to victory.

Sane Person: There was never a path to victory for you - and if you just wanted to get your message out, you could have done so without asking for votes. You are a billionaire. Just buy ads.

Steyer: OK, I just wanted to keep the Democratic party dialogue in the right lane and had no intention of siphoning votes off from viable candidates.

Sane Person: Then why did you ask for votes? And why didn't you quit the day before the election and tell these people to vote for someone who has a chance to win??

Steyer: Fine, I wanted to feel big, OK???? Telling black people I want them to have reparations makes me feel big. I wanted to feel big. And when we get to the convention I plan to trade my delegates for the promise of an ambassadorship.
