Re: Election 2020
Biden should announce Kamala as VP ahead of super Tuesday if he wants to really make a move.

Yeah it seems like they would announce by now. I am clueless with this process though. Are they waiting to possibly team up with a current candidate who may yet drop out of the race? Like Sanders picks up Warren for example.verb_to_trust wrote:Biden should announce Kamala as VP ahead of super Tuesday if he wants to really make a move.

Re: Election 2020
Why would Biden want Kamala? To bolster his establishment bonafides? the minority vote?
Maybe these people don't want to be VP.

He'd want her because she is a woman of color and she wouldn't taint him with any crazy socialist vibes. Just ask all the marijuana prosecutions she was responsible for. It would be a ticket that would possibly energize the BIll3s and not scare away 100% of the Bernie Bros.BurtReynolds wrote:Why would Biden want Kamala? To bolster his establishment bonafides?

Re: Election 2020
The VP choice isn't usually announced until one candidate has the nomination secured. The pick is usually announced right before the convention. In 2016, in a last-ditch effort for relevancy, Cruz announced that he would pick Carly Fiorina if he was the nominee. The whole episode was pretty pathetic and didn't make anyone involved look good.Bammer wrote:Yeah it seems like they would announce by now. I am clueless with this process though. Even though it doesn't look like any Democrat will secure the nomination anytime soon, and possibly not until the convention itself, don't expect any VP picks anytime soon. The VP pick could be a potential bargaining chip at a contested convention (Biden agrees to pick a lefty to secure votes on the second ballot, or Sanders agrees to pick a moderate, etc), so that's another reason why I wouldn't expect any candidates to prematurely announce a choice.
A VP pick right now is not likely to be beneficial to a candidate in terms of convincing voters to choose them, but it could be harmful. Now, all of a sudden, you would be responsible for every one of their gaffes on the trail and every unfortunate episode in their past that comes out in oppo research. It'd be better at this point to just get an endorsement, have a big announcement, and send any potential VP picks out on the trail as surrogates for you.

It's going to be Stacey Abrams no matter who the nominee is, unless she turns it down

Kamala Harris trashed Biden over busing (her only moment of relevance in the primary) I doubt Biden would consider her

So it turns out there's a primary on Tuesday in my state. Who should I vote for?

Re: Election 2020
Biden should pick a Latino that resonates with younger people. I don’t see how Harris or Abrams helps Biden as much as someone else would, since he seems to have the black community in his corner already. Abrams would be a good choice for Bernie. Tammy Duckworth was the other name floated around for Bernie. That’s a good choice too.
