I'm so fucking excited for an Arcade Fire record with a James Murphy influence I can barely contain myself.

The first minute sounds like a U2 cover band :)
It's good though

There's hints of U2 in the guitar yeah. It's less OTT rocktastic though.

I'm thinking this record could be my first disappointment from this band

Did anyone get a chance to grab the download of that song from soundcloud?

It's exactly what I want. I listened to The Sprawl II while driving last weekend and was thinking how much I dug that sound. I'm excited for a move in that direction if that's what's coming. Also, I haven't listened to the new song yet.

While I'm totally into everything this band does, the disco parts of the last album were definitely not my favourite shade of Fire. But with this guy on board (and based on the evidence of this single) I'm hoping it'll go into more exciting places.

I finally found it online.

http://www.indieshuffle.com/arcade-fire-reflektor/

My initial thoughts - pretty good song, pretty ambient and will work well in the context of an album. Not sure that's its really a 'single' type of song, but I really don't care either way, I'm always buyin' what they're sellin'.

Is that a drum machine? Don't they have a drummer and like 5 random percussionists? Surely, they could handle this tune.

I don't think it is, pretty sure it's live drums. It may also have some samples and loops, but it's basically live. It's just mixed to sound 'dancey'.
