The new song (and video) is pure trash, I’m sad to say. Everything about it sucks.
I haven't seen the video but the song is fantastic. It sounds like it belongs with the tracks from the Fly sessions but with more modern production. It has so much life and energy.
Those harmonies! The familiar, immaculate vocal blend (God I've missed these voices). Emily's banjo!!! I fucking love the way this is mixed. It has proplosive percussion. Such a layered and full low end. Really all the sonic layering is well done.
It's catchy and melodic. The lyrics are super specific and personal yet universal enough for the listener to connect and feel the heart of the message in their own way. It feels completely Dixie Chicks while being fresh and new and not just picking up from the sound they last left us with.
Yeah, man, I fucking dig it. Big time. I think I heard it a dozen times yesterday and it kept surprising me.
All that said, I hope this isn't the entire album. I want some other flavors and surprises.

Are we talking about the same song? Gaslighter? It’s cheesy AF and not good in any way.durdencommatyler wrote:Hard disagree.Bammer wrote:I generally like the Dixie Chicks. Re: Country Music
the part of the video where they're wearing those vinyl boots looked so odd, like the boots were added digitally. maybe it was the textures combined with the lighting? at any rate, weird looking.
really like the song and I agree that the production seems top-notch.

I am more on Bammer's side here. There could be a good song in there but the production ruins it for me. I love Jack Antonoff but this production just doesn't work for me.Bammer wrote:Are we talking about the same song? Gaslighter? Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Saw them on their last tour before they pissed off the world by saying George Bush was an embarrassment.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

I fucked up the merge and I have no idea how. I was going to fix it but I didn't want Bammer to accuse me of doing some weird nefarious shit so I left it last night.E.H. Ruddock wrote:What's with the thread title

Well unless you count asking someone if they’re pregnant as an accusation.
