It has become clear from recent events that Gigaton Squad's current machine-gun-based liberation machine is no longer effective against the gravest threat to the Jamily: Human Coronavirus #19.

Heretofore-ward the Gigaton Squad must adapt in order to more properly defeat it's foe.

Accordingly, I ask all of you to turn in your grenade launchers and bowie knives immediately and pick up a lab coat and goggles.

“ Gigaton takes a warm, balanced approach to the Pearl Jam sound and really punching up the drums and finally giving Matt Cameron the studio oomph he’s needed since joining the band in 1998. This is never more evident than on “Take the Long Way”, a tune helmed by Cameron in every sense, showcasing some of his best work to date with the band.”

I just read the Stereogum review and rolled my eyes at every lyric the author quoted.

What is up with these random sites getting review copies? Space.com?

As for lyrics, I do like “all the answers will come in the mistakes we have made” line.

I liked that review, but it was too short. He had interesting thoughts on the songs he mentioned, but failed to mention about half of the songs.

"And it’s that energy where the album falls short to a degree, losing momentum about 3/4 of the way, giving way to the final quartet of quieter, pensive songs that would have been better served as brief respites placed throughout an otherwise intense listening experience."

Seems weird that they've backloaded the album with so many slow tracks. We're used to the final track being low key, but four in a row is a stretch.

That said, the middle section of Binaural (Light Years - NAIS - Thin Air) worked brilliantly, so provided the 4 closing tracks of Gigaton are strong, it doesn't matter what style they're in.

I'm excited for a tracklist that feels like it's paced strangely again; I was really angry at Binaural the first time I heard it because it was so full of soft songs, after like two or three rockers, but that's what ended up giving it its long-lasting character for me

The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa's upcoming album releases have been delayed due to to the virus. Likely that PJ is going to follow suit.

I’m over the excitement now and actually nonplussed about it. I’m sure that’ll change in 2 weeks.
