Although I understand that the whole reason for Walts "breaking bad" was to get money for his family, I am disappointed at how emotionally involved he became with it so much that he would fall for Jesse's trap. Walt is usually so much more calculated than that. I suppose that is what made the scene so much better because it showed Walt as a fairly pathetic man.

Also, do you think Walt was really giving himself up or do you think he had something else in mind before the Aryans arrived?

I think he was really giving himself up. If he wanted those guys dead, he wouldn't have tried to call off the Aryans. And, when he was being cuffed, he didn't try to negotiate at all.

If Hank was going to die it would have been much better to just to have the Aryans mow him down from a writing standpoint. I've reconsidered ad feel as if he will live now.

I disagree. I think it would be quite dramatic if they set up something where Walt has to choose if Hank lives or dies, knowing full well that choosing life means Hank will never stop coming after him and his family, Hank's fury made a thousand times worse by Gomez's inevitable death. Done right, a scene like that could rival the plane crash, Hank's parking lot battle, Gale's final moment, or Gus' threats against Walt's family as the dramatic pinnacle of the series.

This show is leaving on a high note like no other program before it.



One thing I don't quite get, and this is a major nit pick, is where did the baby go in the beginning of the episode? Walt walks in carrying her, walks out, and then one second later he walks in without her. Is there a pack-n-play outside the carwash or something?

why didn't hank just show a badge? Not that it would have guaranteed to stop anything, but it might have.

Because it would have taken one of his hands off the gun. He's smart enough to know they were going to shoot even if he did show a badge and that was just a trick.

If he's going to yell that he's the police, he better be prepared to back it up if he wants it to matter. Clearly having both hands on the gun does nothing for his aim.

i still dont see how we get from here to flash forward so quickly...

i also thought hank was going to get sniped before he turned around.

my only complaint: it is a little hard to believe both, especially gomez miraculously were not hit as soon as they opened fire.

I think Gomez was hit. I swear I saw blood on his chest as he took cover behind the car.

I'll have to rewatch, I didn't see him get hit at all.

Fuck that was a good episode.
I'd say that Hank's toast - that's why they showed the call to Marie with the final 'I love you'

I'm thinking that potentially only Walt and Jessie will make it out of this and will be forced to cook again until they can find a way to take down the Aryan Brotherhood

Because for all the terrible things he has done, the writers have done a great job at keeping him relatively likeable and relatable on a base level. I'd say this wasn't true for a big chunk of the first half of season 5, where he seemed almost totally consumed by hubris, but they appear to have reined in his ruthlessness for this second half of the season.

Yeah, I felt bad for Mike too but he and Walt had a different relationship to the one between Walt and Jesse.
