i wish there was a reliable at home test
the denominator on this thing would explode
and we’d be able to see how low the % of serious cases really is
might actually change some of the mainstream dialogue
there are still horrible deaths happening
but we could focus the quarantine on high-risk-profile-people (for their own safety until a vaccine is ready)
rather than shutting down everything for all people and things

Act like if you are breathing you have it.96583UP wrote:i wish there was a reliable at home test
That's the right solution but the math doesn't support it. There is a desperate need to slow the infection rate or all health services will be swamped way past the point of breaking. If only 5% of those infected require hospital intervention and 50% of the population gets C-19, that would be 10M people requiring hospital care. We do not have the resources to manage that all at once. It is this 10M that the 'bend the curve' narrative is trying to address.96583UP wrote:we could focus the quarantine on high-risk-profile-people (for their own safety until a vaccine is ready) rather than shutting down everything for all people and things
Basically, they are scrambling and don't have a real plan.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
high severity cases are the ones that overload the hospitals
high severity cases are correlated with age and health history
you can slow the rate of high severity cases by quarantining those with the correlated age and health history
if the 55 and under norms are out living their lives spreading low severity cases amongst themselves they will not overhwhelm the hospitals
the ones predisposed to having high severity cases should be squirreled away under precautionary measures
economic stability is achieved
once a vaccine is created and administered to the old farts
you can release them from their cages
case closed

My 6th grader is insistent that if one kid in his middle school comes down with this that the entire district is closing all schools. And so my dipshit son and his gaggle of halfwit friends nominated one their own to “take one for the team.” That kid thought that by eating paper made in China you are somehow guaranteed to get sick. And so he did.

Maybe not closure, but this school district deserves an audit by the state at least.Chris_H_2 wrote:My 6th grader is insistent that if one kid in his middle school comes down with this that the entire district is closing all schools. Pete Townshend just announced he’s happy to supervise everyone’s kids while schools are closed if their parents want to just have some ‘me time’ to themselves and cease all communication and inquiries about how things are going during that time so they can just disconnect and find their chi

Pixies shows postponed mid-tour, having already played Golden Plains and Melbourne.LetMeSleep wrote:My mate's kid school is closed indefinitely. They have to self isolate their kid and if anyone develops symptoms they all are on lock down.
This guy has my Pixies ticket.
Hey, maybe they’ll add an Adelaide date on the rescheduled dates.

Just read that. Hopefully Adelaide is added one day. Those tix will either be used one day or will remind us of the last of days.Birds in Hell wrote:Pixies shows postponed mid-tour, having already played Golden Plains and Melbourne.LetMeSleep wrote:My mate's kid school is closed indefinitely.
