In the bar industry we joke that the business is recession-proof. However, it remains to be seen whether or not we are pandemic-proof.

Seems like the existence of index futures makes investing in the indexes more risky. or maybe not.

I figure I have enough time until I retire that this won’t even matter.

But then again I don’t know shit about the stock market and I just have a couple mutual funds.

I think bars will fair much better than restaurants, which are about to get clobbered. A week of no sales could be hugely problematic for even the most successful restaurants; a month could be disastrous.
The ones hurting the most in my city are concentrated in Asiatown, where people stopped going a month ago. My wife and I plan to go support one of our favorite ramen places there next week.

Kind of fucked up that people are avoiding that one part of town.

I agree, but right or wrong the perception is that it's an insular community that may not always have the national interests of the US in mind.
