At this point we need Gigaton to come out before the end of the world.

do you really want this to be one of the last albums you'll ever hear?liebzz wrote:At this point we need Gigaton to come out before the end of the world.

Yes.
Also, that band photo is fine. They're all in their 50s. Accept it.

Will definitely be listening to this on my Pono. People moaned over the screen and form-factor, but, they really did sink most of the BOM into the sound quality. Also a huge mistake, IMO, to focus so much of the marketing on high-res audio, as it's capable of playing anything. Great-sounding device!bune wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:It will be uploaded to all workingZunesPonos automatically next Friday.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Hearing some bits of vintage
@pearljam
in the new #Gigaton songs:
Who Ever Said: Breakerfall / Insignificance / Inside Job
Superblood Wolfmoon: World Wide Suicide / Big Wave
Dance Of The Clairvoyants: You Are
Quick Escape: Deep, Blood
Alright: Parting Ways, the verses of Pilate
Seven O’Clock: Light Years, Army Reserve
Never Destination: God’s Dice, Green Disease, Supersonic
Take The Long Way: Get Right, No Attention (Soundgarden)
Buckle Up: a faster, 3/4-time Low Light
Comes Then Goes: Around The Bend, Thin Air
Retrograde: Yellow Moon, Amongst The Waves
River Cross: Indifference, Long Road
Who Ever Said might actually be decent. Other reviews described the song taking a few turns, with a softer section, this could be the part that's reminiscent of Inside Job. Combined with a driving riff in the style of Breakerfall, it could turn out better than SBWM.
SBWM I see the comparison to WWS, so this seems like a fair comparison. SBWM is pretty weak to me even if it has grown on me slightly. I also compared DOTC to You Are in tone and sounding electronic so another fair comparison.
Now the good stuff. Quick Escape is sounding really intriguing. Another review mentioned it having a chorus that sounded like it could be on a early 90's PJ release, so now we another person echo the sentiment comparing it to Deep and Blood. Damn hyped for this one, even with the shitty Trump lyric in it, hope that doesn't kill it for me.
Alright could be a sleeper great track, written by Jeff. A slower type pretty song in the style of Parting Ways and the verses of Pilate? Nice, and right in the current PJ wheelhouse.
Seven O Clock, mixed expectations on it. Other reviews called it overblown and exaggerated, so I'm hoping there's not alot of cheese. KidC compared it to the Otherside, which is a great track, and Light Years is one of my all time favorite tracks, so I'm hopeful on this one.
Never Destination could be a throwaway track, or it could be quirky and fun. I'd probably hate SBWM way less if it wasn't a single and was the Supersonic of the album, so let's see.
Take The Long Way, I'm damn hyped. Matt Cameron is a great song writer, he writes great riffs, melodies and time signatures. Can't wait to see what he cooked up. I love Get Right.
Buckle Up could be very nice, I love Low Light and Around the Bend, but hoping it's not Coldplay cheesy like that review said.
Comes Then Goes was initially the track I was most worried about. "Pete Townshend acoustic aggression" was the first description. well that sounds horrible, but if it in fact turned out to be a slow somber and pretty Ed track, I can live with it.
Retrograde is McCready's track, and I'm expecting a big overblown ballad like Sirens. I like Sirens, so I'm in. I hope it delivers, especially that outro we keep hearing about.
River Cross we pretty much know what to expect, I hope the full band version makes it greater, I find it kind of boring on the Ed version, but I'm sure it will be elevated and become a highlight, especially live.

You’ll be happy and unsurprised to hear dance of the Clairvoyants is the best song on here.
You’ll be dismayed or unsurprised to hear the rest of it is bog standard stodgy bland Pearl Jam fare.
