He says he listened to the new album and didn't like it. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm just curious to hear more about it. I'll make my own call when it comes out no matter what the reviews say.

It would be nice if the album buildup could be enjoyed unfettered by the jaded ramblings of fans who seem to enjoy espousing how much they think pearl jam suck rather than giving it a go and letting it sink in. Surely you owe them at least that if you are bothered to listen to it in the first place? Some of their best albums need to be lived with for a month or two rather than a once through on computer speakers while you are semi distracted by something else.

There were no aspersions cast. People here can and easily be catogorised into groups when it comes to the albums. . Some love backspacer some loathe it. Neither are wrong or stupid for either stance. That’s what I was referring to. There’s definitely a cohort that will love it and another that loathe it. That’s all I was saying.
I love Pj and have spent considerable amounts of money seeing them and Ed play live all over the states and Europe for many years. I’ll always love them. Not blindly though. That was kind of what I was trying to say if I said it poorly fair enough but I wasn’t coming at anyone for being excited or trying to dampen their excitement. Apologies if it read like that but a few of the posts before mine and certainly the utterly childish pile on afterwards tells its own tale about those people and nothing about me. There is no talking to people that have Pj (or anything) held in sacred cow status. As evidenced by the pathetic ad hominem that came after.

I’m happy to accept you may not meant to come across how we heard it, but how you said it does say something about you, you can’t wring your hands of your own words.
I couldn’t give two shits if you hate the new album or if you have spent boatloads of cash on the band in the past. Us mere mortals haven’t heard it yet (I’m not convinced you have either as your posts have a certain schtick to them) but before you decide who likes it and who doesn’t, how bout you wait for us to tell you once we get to hear it and I dunno, speak for ourselves?
Fair enough. It does take all kinds, I suppose. I try not to say anything on here that I wouldn't say in "real-life", but, that's just my own personal preference. Keyboard courage doesn't count for much, IMO, though I guess don't really spend enough time on other forums/reddit/whatever. Saying what you feel is wonderful, but, it isn't quite the same thing as "I feel entitled to act like a prick because I could be anyone, anywhere."
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

That's an absolute straw-man, and you know it.....I'm not talking, in any way, about the album, or your opinion of it. I'm strictly speaking about you insulting other posters, that's all.
So, you feel "empowered" to say whatever you want, and tell others that they have thin skin if they don't like it, while you're able to simply turn around and say you're leaving a conversation if you get a little pushback or don't like the response....got it.

Only ones that stood out are DOTC (but I’m obsessed with that one so biased going in) and River cross which I was predisposed to love as you know. I only got one spin, my pal has it on his phone he reviews for papers here.
I wasn’t taking notes and weren’t in the best environment for a good listening experience either and talking over it. He came to me as his biggest Pj fan he knows for my take before writing but sadly the rest is just forgettable as in I don’t remember it apart from it being variations of what we already have to varying degrees of good/bad if that makes sense

Thank you Dime. That does make sense. My first listen to No Code, I didn't like it. My first listen to Lightning Bolt, and I loved it. Now No Code is my favorite. LB is still ok to me.

I do love an old-school EPK....Feels like some bands mimic this these days by doing a short video series of some sort on Youtube leading up the release. Nuclear Blast does this often, as they have a lot of aging metal bands with aging fanbases who still thankfully appreciate these sorts of things

Labels used to send out EPKs with elaborate almost gift packs of cool stuff and band related collectibles and it just sort of stopped somewhere after the internet took over. I’m not sure they even bother with EPKs anymore in the main part but the thing Pj did with the videos for LB was far more effective anyways I’d reckon. It reached people rather than trying to influence a handful of journalists
