That one's a keeper, she is!
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I wanna try some Talking Heads because of this song. Where should I start? I know nothing.

Listened to this for the first time in about 2 weeks and still love it
In fact, I cranked it in the car on the way to work.

I was just hoping for decent songs...this song exceeded my expectations

Never thought I'd be playing a Pearl Jam single this much

Easily my favorite single since Nothing As It Seems or Given to Fly

I love the vocal harmonies and layering going on and I hope there's a lot more of that in the album, because I always saw vocal effects like that as archetypally Pearl Jam

It's better than WWS.
was severed hand a single? thats probably my favorite from that album. regardless, i cant really compare this to any other pearl jam song. the only thing i can think of is hearing 'in my tree' way back and thinking "holy shit, this is pearl jam?"
Great comparison on the feeling of hearing both!
glad someone else gets it, b/c thats all ive got. its weird to both sound like pearl jam and sound nothing like a pearl jam song

I don’t want to hijack this thread, but slowly making my way through the Talking Heads catalogue. It’s pretty good and excellent in spots. At least through the first three albums.

The first five studio albums and the two live albums are all stellar. The sixth is fun and good. True Stories has its moments but is ultimately a miss for me. The movie is good, I just think the music was written for the movie and not the band so the fit isn't perfect and it doesn't quite work at points. Naked might have a couple worthy tracks, but nothing truly great and I never listen to it anymore.

I played the shit out of this song, so I need to let it sit back into the general fabric of the album, but it's still a highlight in an album full of highlights

I agree with this. It’s not weird when you hear the album, that they chose it as the first single.

I can't help but think how floored I'd be with this song if tonight was my first time hearing it, in the context of the album.
