These reviews make me expect an album that's quite a bit better than Backspacer and Lightning Bolt but won't be anywhere near their best albums. Something like Avocado. That's totally okay for me.

Rising from the ashes of Mohther Love Bone, Gigaton is Pearl Jam's best album since Vitalogy and a true return to form from the grunge survivors (Betterman (Live)).

Try to ignore the source material here and focus on the big picture, if you will.

I was really excited for the Velvet Revolver album in 2003. A snippet from one of the songs came out way early and I heard it like a million times. Got really sick of it actually. Once the album dropped, I fucking hated that one song. Not that there was anything wrong with it, just ... too much.

Fine by me...self-titled is amongst their very best as far as I’m concerned
