Most releases these days are accessed from a remote site or an ftp, from which a link is provided to the reviewer. The files tend to have a digital identifier, which can then be easily traced back to the reviewer who was provided the link, as well as info about the device they accessed it on.

Been posting this repeatedly over the past three weeks, but, it ain't 2007 anymore, kids.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

i'm happy to wait until 27 March to listen to this thing as, frankly, there's no way the album can live up to the standard i've now constructed in my head as a result of all these reviews, and i'm happy to delay that reality, but i'm amazed that it hasn't leaked. also, i'm just curious, what would be the impediments to a decision to drop it early. the dolby atmos stuff is cancelled. most sales are digital sales. would the band even have the authority to drop it early if they wanted to? regardless, it's hard to imagine that we won't all forever think of Gigaton as affiliated with COVID-19 quarantine.

Ah gotcha. I know that some reviewers also still get physical review copies with watermarks on them, but you're probably right in this case.

In fairness sounds like he lost his job, so this is the only thing keeping him up.
His job is to blog. I’ve met this guy a few times, and that type of look-what-I-got, dangle-my-dick post is 100% typical.

I've read about Universal doing some of these, but, I can't say for sure

Our best bet for a leak is some disgruntled, non-quarantined warehouse employee.

Too bad there isn't an Amazon employee on this board who is as excited for this one as folks were for Tool.

For those who don't know, the kid posted pics of himself holding the CD while on his shift and proceeded to smuggle it out of the Amazon warehouse, but, didn't know how to rip the CD. He posted the call for help, and drove to a hotel in Vegas that was an hour away, where he met two fans in the lobby who provided a laptop and they ripped it right there.

In other words, our commitment level needs work.

First negative review so far eh? He calls Lightning Bolt mediocre and "Can't Deny Me" forgettable, basically states that Gigaton is only one notch above those two

I wonder if they are going to make us wait until March 27th, considering the theater listening thing was supposed to be on the 25th.

that review also praised Who Ever Said and Quick Escape again. He seemed to not care for Retrograde, however.

The ones in my areas were moderately filled up, I was planning to attend to see some soul patches and flannel.

He referred to "Retrograde" as "Sirens 2.0 but even more watered-down"
