I'm still intrigued by the fact that this was mastered in Dolby Atmos and the fact that the theater experience got cancelled.
If they went through that process then a physical BR release would be the next logical step right?

My understanding is that Dolby Atmos has almost no home consumer application unless you have a dozen or so speakers.

there are Atmos receivers and speakers, you can do it with a less then $1000 speaker set.

the hi-res part would still be a nice feature to have on disc.

In short, he says its great, and Seven O’Clock is one of their best songs ever. Their most musically inventive album since Yield. I can write it all up later.

A few tidbits from it:

The surging riffs on Who Ever Said camouflages how unorthodox it's structure really is.

Alright has plinking kalimba notes at it's spine

By the time Seven O Clock comes to an end, it has confidently and deservedly established itself as one of the greatest songs Pearl Jam has ever written

Retrograde is a slow burning meditation on climate change

River Cross upholds the tradition of causing damage to the tear ducts with it's closing tracks.

Pretty much it, other small tidbits on each song, calls the album a triumph.

The Kerrang reviewer is a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. He's written quite a few times about how he loves every PJ album and each holds a special place in his heart.

A lot of these super positive reviews have been written by fanboys. And fanboys have a tendency to get a bit carried away when they get an exclusive early listen (as we probably all would in all honestly). So I'm slightly wary of them TBH.

The Spin review was the one that had me most interested, as it kicked off with a line to the effect of "Admit it... you were worried", which I think best reflects my feelings!

Over a hammering baseline, song about fleeing to mars to find a place Trump hadn't fucked up yet. Same old.
