This is where my expectations are too.tragabigzanda wrote:At this point I'm confidant we'll get at least half of an awesome album, which would put it in the same league as S/T.
Every record from Binaural onwards, with the exception of the last two, has been a half-successful mixed bag with a few misfires. If the new album picks falls back into that pattern, I'd be happy.

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread
I said it in one of these threads but when the first round of reviews came out I said everyone should basically be expecting something as good as S/T. This late in their career (and after the nadir of Can't Deny Me), I'd be ecstatic with that.

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread
It does sound more "experimental" than that, so that's encouraging.

YL is not an Ed song in really any way. It doesn't even have fully formed lyrics.

That review just sort of...ends. Not a lot there. Interesting that of all the things he didn’t like, he likes Comes Then Goes. That one doesn’t sound super exciting.

I feel the same way. Not quite the fan boy reviews we’ve been seeing. Seems like this reviewer gave it a passive listen at best.scrub12 wrote:That review just sort of...ends. Not a lot there.

I mean, when the first main paragraph has a line like "he’s beginning to sound a bit like Chris Cornell, who was always a better singer" you gotta wonder lol.

It makes for a welcome change to read something less gushing and effusive about the record.

I just send the new songs to my brother who trashes them with gleeful abandon...keeps my hype in check.Birds in Hell wrote:It makes for a welcome change to read something less gushing and effusive about the record.

Brothaman speaks like he heard a sampler and not the full album.tragabigzanda wrote:Slant hates it!

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…
