Maybe the analogy isn't perfect. I just want to at least get the impression they're giving us the best version of themselves and not compromising their integrity because Ramones or something.

Haven't read the thread yet. Just heard the snippet. Really dig it. This little clips almost never do anything for me but I'm super excited by this one.

I don't need them to be drunk and sloppy, but indications last year was that this album was being recorded as an obligation. Given that, I'd be very excited to know that they're "having fun."tree_ wrote:Maybe the analogy isn't perfect. If they have to be drunk to have that fun, I'm willing to see what happens.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Yeah, it could work if done right but i think I'd rather just have a few verses spoken. Ive read so many reviews on this album, so i wouldn't know where to begin but im not completely sure on the matter anyway.Ms Harmless wrote:I'd be interested to read that, if you can remember where it was; I said just yesterday this song needs the "Bushleaguer" treatment; I love that song, and the same attitude and theatricality could deliver those hammy lyrics about Trump; and then with a really grungy chorus? I'm in, bring on Trumpleaguerreconstruction_ seeds wrote:I think i read this one is supposed to be spoken word except for the 90s sounding chorus. I can't afford to be disappointed on this song. I wonder if I'll be content with the spoken word parts or if it will make me think a good riff and groove deserved more. Or hopefully if it is spoken word the chorus will be so good that it wont matter.

Matt would have left the band a long time ago if he were bored. When you do creative stuff for a living you tend to gravitate towards what interests you.

Or, well, because it pays the best. And it's like a historical thing. Him being such a part of the grunge thing and having so much history with the Jam. It's kinda like why I still post here. I kinda hate Pearl Jam but I can't stop now.FlatSideofaDog wrote:Matt would have left the band a long time ago if he were bored. Good point, you've convinced me that Matt is just like you: he associates with pearl jam for (money and) history even though he hates them.tree_ wrote:Yeah because only people in debt like money.FlatSideofaDog wrote:Yes I heard Matt is in debt from all those two headed snakes he started collecting.tree_ wrote:Or, well, because it pays the best. I guess Matt really likes being in the band. He seems very confortable and proud of the spot he has.

Re: Quick Escape
HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
Guys, ed does not ruin this song. this is classic vintage pearl jam. Holy shit.
The vocals,t he melody, the grind, the dirt.
No spoken word.
This feels like ane arly 90's stone riff. Wow.
