The whole point of Pearl Jam was that it wasn't one of those one standard chord per bar type bands. There's a million of them. I can't think of an equivalent approach on a verse in the first three records, Whipping possibly but that's two chords per bar - first one is probably Mankind. It's all Stone's fault. The first half is just Ghost down a tone.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I still think WES is gonna rock. It's got that kind of drive without sounding too primitivistic.Blenheim Augustine wrote:A-C-F#m-D

Ghost is a deceptively simple, awesome song. It has simple chords but with a cool vocal melody in the verses, and then arpeggiated riff in the chorus with another great vocal line and backup vocals, and great solo'ing from Mike. Great song.

For the record, I played this for my nine-year-old and his first comment was "this sounds like Superblood Wolfmoon."

Re: Who Ever Said
Almost all the reviews said this is an amazing opener. I'm holding onto that. Yeah yeah - the reviews are often mega fans but even though we love blindly, we CAN be their harshest critic.
Also - every single snippet I have heard ended up being nothing like the rest of the song in terms of my expectation.
This is going to be good. Album is going to be good.
That said...release the damn thing early!

I love Ghost so much. The lyrics are great too, and yes Mike is just too good there.Vindicator wrote:Blenheim Augustine wrote:A-C-F#m-D

Whoa. Chorus is probably my least favorite part, but the buildup at the end is great.

Re: Who Ever Said
This one was a little bit of a let down after all the hype. Was thinking it was going to be heavier, but it's more akin to a Last Exit vibe than say a Go vibe.

Last Exit is maybe PJ's best song.RAG319 wrote:This one was a little bit of a let down after all the hype. Was thinking it was going to be heavier, but it's more akin to Last Exit that anything.

But it sounds nothing like last exit. For the record. Dont get the comparison.

Re: Who Ever Said
I feel like the reviews didn't do a good representing this one at all. I came in with different expectations than what I received. Maybe it'll be a grower for me.

Re: Who Ever Said
This song is kind of exhausting on first listen. I like its ambition and the chorus is OK but overall not really a fan.

Thats what i love about many of these tracks. You can feel the band in the studio together. Unleashed. Not cut and pasted.Ms Harmless wrote:that first bass note makes no sense, it's a false start

I get same feeling with this one that I do with Superblood Wolfmoon. I don't have a problem with anything here it just doesn't do anything for me.
