Sounds like dates. Since they’re supposedly going to Mars, could be updates to people on earth or something like that.guitar_davey wrote:What's being said in the background at one point? Sounds like a news report or something?

Re: Quick Escape
Holy fuck me this song melted me. Why wasn’t this the second single???
Love the piano bits in the middle. I’m enjoying eddie’s breakerfall effect on the vocals in the verses. I LOVE how Ed screams quick escape over Jeff and others singing it in harmony.

Re: Quick Escape
Reconnaissance on the corner
In the old world not so far
First we took an airplane
Then a boat to Zanzibar
Queen cranking on the blaster
And Mercury did rise
Come along where we all belonged
You were yours and I was mine
Had to quick escape
Had to quick escape
Crossed the border to Morocco
Kashmir then Marrakesh
The lengths we had to go to then
To find a place Trump hadn’t fucked up yet
Living life on the back porch
Lifting rocks to make a wage
Every sunset paid attention to
Not a starry night went to waste
Had to quick escape
Had to quick escape
And here we are, the red planet
Craters across the skyline
A sleep sack in a bivouac
And a Kerouac sense of time
And we think about the old days
Of green grass, sky and red wine
Shouldn’t known so fragile
And avoided this one-way flight
In the old world not so far
First we took an airplane
Then a boat to Zanzibar
Queen cranking on the blaster
And Mercury did rise
Come along where we all belonged
You were yours and I was mine

Why do you say that? It’s so much better than SBWF and would have piqued interest in what the rest of the album holds.Strat wrote:It would have been a very bad idea to release this as a single. Re: Quick Escape
he's saying the truth which is we are a giant bunch of maniacs and if our first two examples of the new pearl jam record were DOTC and Quick Escape we would have thought it was the second coming of Vitalogy or some shit. Better that it was a more middle of the road PJ song for second single so we could keep expectations in check and thus actually enjoy the actual album.Fattie_Vedder wrote:Why do you say that? In my opinion, after many listens, their best song since the 90s. Nothing will ever compete with their 90s stuff.reconstruction_ seeds wrote:onemanarmy wrote:Early favourite - they've not written a hard rocker this good in a very long time. It's gonna sound HUGE live!

Seriously? I like Rival, a 4 for me but from the clip i figured quick escape would go above it.

Re: Quick Escape
I seem to be on the low end of appreciation for this song. But take in context. It is very good. it's huge and dirty and great bass work. And Pearl Jam has produced plenty of songs I've loved over the last 20 years.Thejambi wrote:It depends on your tendencies but I would put this above Rival.reconstruction_ seeds wrote:stip wrote:Not that good, but it's quite good. You must have. I probably need 100 more listens before I can rate this against Rival.Homeboyd wrote:This is so much better than Rival for me...but maybe I missed the Rival train lolreconstruction_ seeds wrote:stip wrote:Not that good, but it's quite good. Rival good.
