You didn't at all Mirella. Yours was another interesting point of view on it. And that was much appreciated.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
Had to go back a ways to find these
1. Overall how did Eddie sound?
2. Did any members of the band really stand out?
3. How would you describe the feel of the record
4. Did parts of it remind you of previous albums?

It's this.Mike wrote:I think they're happy that everything is easier if they just let BOB direct the album to a degree. Creating albums is so hard if you're a family man and don't have time.harmless wrote:Do you think they're honestly happy about him being PJ over-seer?
I've been too negative and am trying to talk myself into a certain reaction; if, on one day, I think that I'm too worried about the album sucking, I'll be too positive to counteract it. And vice versa. I think every band at PJ's stage in their career has a "PJ Inc" business facet to the way their band runs. I just think that PJ, and BO'B, and seemingly everyone involved with PJ, is so bad at the P.R. and interviewing thing (that's one thing that hasn't changed) that they are particularly transparent about the process, and that's embarrassing. I guess I think that in the end, if PJ could be a bit more "cool, calm and collected", even rock-n-roll about it, maybe even a bit punk about it, they could admit that they've had a creative lull, that they're not really feeling it, so they've willingly hired Brendan O'Brien as a sort of creative director for their band as well as a producer. This is what they want to do at this stage, because although they're passionate about their songs, they don't give a shit about the peripheral crap and so Brendan is dealing with it. I would LOVE for them to admit all this. But they can't, they won't. They feel too much pressure to be "professional" about it now. And so the endless cycle of embarrassment rolls on.
That's pretty much as objective as I can be.
I'd like to apologise to Mirella, though, actually, because it sounds as if I shat all over her excellent review, and that's certainly not what I meant to do. I just hate the fact that I sometimes feel as if I love Pearl Jam more than Pearl Jam loves Pearl Jam.

1. better than he should be, still smoking. Clear, but sometimes like he was another singer, for instance at the start of My Father's Son. Maybe I like what he does with his voice on this album most of everything.stip wrote:Had to go back a ways to find these

2. Jeff, Matt, and Mike, but I guess I will hear the others much better after multiple listens
3. Mixed. I really dont know how to feel about it, as an album. I keep wondering what a non fan may think about this, even though that should not matter. Hard to tell. A happy album at first glance but there is a lot going on in the lyrics. I worry about it becoming too new age-y, with all those 'life wisdom' parts. The music is good and interesting and new, even though they sound a lot like.... Pearl Jam.
4. Yes, all of them, and that is a good thing

No, dont worry! And thanks. Actually, while writing last night, Dennis (eniMMi) already frustrated me enough by giving negative feedback, because I doubled a lot with his review at first. I changed it for the better, but it was still not much funharmless wrote:I'd like to apologise to Mirella, though, actually, because it sounds as if I shat all over her excellent review, and that's certainly not what I meant to do. Ironically, I might need to have the same attitude PJ has. Just gimme the music, everything else is noise.

That is how I understand it as well. Even though there has to be another order if they are his own songs.dimejinky99 wrote:I don't know but I always got the impression eds contribution came last in the studio. He's tinkering away working on lyrics in a room while they're down the hall behind a desk twiddling knobs and playing stuff repeatedly.
There's an EPK (for ST?) that seems to suggest this.

Are there any more hints we might get Sirens today?

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I hope it's more 'Leaving Here' / 'Gremmie' / 'Don't Gimme No Lip' than Supersonic.
