Hopefully more SBTC, but sounds (description-wise) more like Rock Around Barack and 1/2 Full.harmless wrote:Blenheim Augustine wrote:Just Let the Records Play.harmless wrote:Ironically, I might need to have the same attitude PJ has. Just gimme the music, everything else is noise.![]()

I hope it's more 'Leaving Here' / 'Gremmie' / 'Don't Gimme No Lip' than Supersonic.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I don't even remember Rock Around Barack, and don't care to hear it again, but Half Full is awesome.Blenheim Augustine wrote:Hopefully more SBTC, but sounds (description-wise) more like Rock Around Barack and 1/2 Full.harmless wrote:Blenheim Augustine wrote:Just Let the Records Play.harmless wrote:Ironically, I might need to have the same attitude PJ has. That's an interesting remark.Mirella wrote: A happy album at first glance but there is a lot going on in the lyrics. I worry about it becoming too new age-y, with all those 'life wisdom' parts.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
Indeed. It seems like the social justice / tree-hugging identity-political angle might be a logical one to take for a previously angry band that isn't angry anymore. Exhibit A. Incubus. Their tree-hugging sensibilities have led them to make the worst album ever by a wide margin. But it's still a form of quiet non-violent resistance, so that youth is still somewhere in there. If that makes any sense at all.Mine wrote:That's an interesting remark.Mirella wrote: A happy album at first glance but there is a lot going on in the lyrics. Lightning Bolt is already this album's Unthought Known. Sirens might be this album's Inside Job.

Anyone hear the Mike McCready interview that would be interested in posting the cliff notes version?

This is so funny. They were in English from the start. I only introduced it in Dutch since it was posted to the Dutch board. Saying I only made an English versiondimejinky99 wrote:K ill take notes.
Mirella has posted her thoughts from the listening party but they're in Dutch at the Moment. I've asked about an English translation.
groetjes,

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
You're right. I've been getting ahead of myself for two reasons: 1) Brendan O'Brien has said almost everything about this album leading up to its release so far, and 2) the band that created it has said virtually nothing. That's not another complaint, just a clarification more for myself than anything. I'm really not unhappy about anything else so far. FD is what it is, it's a filler song stuck on the end for a purpose. The problem there is just that its appearance at Wrigley has hyped it up beyond belief, and it's not that kind of song.stip wrote:The BoB hate seems premature on this record, since we've only heard one song and no one really complained about its producing.

And a lot of what BoB has said is right in line with everything people dislike about him to begin with.harmless wrote:You're right. Also true. We've learned nothing we don't already know about him.
