Haven't listened yet, but based on RM's reaction, I can probably safely place this above RA, BS, LB and S/T. And with a very good shot of passing Binaural.

Mid-Tier: Gigaton

It’s WAY too early to rank Gigaton for me. I would end up rating it higher than it will age I am sure because it’s both new and very good.

Edit: I mean at this second it would rate in my top half for certain, but it’s because I have only heard the album twice or so.

As others have mentioned, it is way too early to rank Gigaton, but I could see it comfortably settling in the 6-8 range.

I actually don't buy into the 'take your time' approach. Is it just pearl jam that you do this for? I don't do it for any other artist/band so it seems a bit off to do it with pearl jam.

Ha! No way Pearl Jam ever cracks my top 4 again.

Vs. - Yield, in an ever changing order. After that, the other 7 jumble around based on my mood.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

No matter who the artist. There's no fuckin' way I can judge a whole album of songs in 1.5 days. If I'm just getting into a band with a lengthy discography, it could be several years before I really feel like I have a grasp on everything.

I'm not sure about rankings at the moment, but I think I can confidently call this the "best of late-period Pearl Jam"

I think that period starts with S/T. Agree?

Fair enough, especially the idea of ranking an album in the discography of an unfamiliar band. My list of 'essential' pearl jam has the records with the pj style I've always liked best. I became a fan in '96. Gigaton fits right there for me.
