Re: Who Ever Said
The part from 2:30 shows perfectly how Eddie should sound on a rock song with his current voice.

I definitely hear STP in that chorus section. First thing I thought of.darthvedder81 wrote:Anyone hearing a little STP in here? At least at the beginning? Love the weird little counter melody before the Mike fills, that’s totally Stone’s doing.

100% agreed. From 2:30 on it moves the song from a 3,0 to a 4 or 4.5 for me. Really enjoying it after multiple listens.

The big bass note at the beginning reminds me of Idles "Colossus."

He sings with the song rather than trying over the top of it. Makes a huge difference.Mike wrote:The part from 2:30 shows perfectly how Eddie should sound on a rock song with his current voice.Yeah thisEJ wrote:Ed is so on point with this section.

I'm so glad members of this forum aren't in Pearl JamMs Harmless wrote:I love love love the delivery of "who ever said it's all been said..." but not so much "gave up on satisfaction"stip wrote:i think where Im struggling with this song is the chorus - a little too pop for the rest of the song, maybe? its catchy but a little incongruous for the song
I almost feel like the chorus could have been "who ever said it's all been said?" repeated 2 / 4 times, with a space left where the latter part is now

Really really like the lyrics to this song. Feel like I haven’t noticed any PJ lyrics I’ve cared about since MOTH

Me during this entire part...LawrenceOrbach wrote: Home is where the broken heart is
Home is where every scar is
Blinking stars, beneath you roam
Room to tomb and cradle to grave
All the answers will be found
In the mistakes that we have made
One bad ear and one eye blind
It takes a village but don’t take mine
Living forward in a backwards town
I feed ‘em drinks just to watch ‘em drown
Swallow my pencil and bleed out my pen
Surrender the wise we’ll be together again
But I won’t give up
No I won’t give up on satisfaction.. satisfaction
Pull myself aside on a sleepless night
Sadness blurs, I’m in need of a light
Out of balance, balance, balance this time
I’m feeling fading calling as I’m falling out of sight
As the silence gets louder my heart gets pounding
And ventricles pumping, working overtime
Our freedoms fraught with danger being circumscribed
A life cut short and circumcised
A rubble of commandments from the road, step aside
A rumble of commandments in the road, step aside

This is basically two songs. The first half is meh, the last two minutes is top ten percent of post-Binaural PJ
