The new arcade fire single just kicked me in the balls(it sucks) so I'm really hoping I love whatever we get next from Pj.

Are we definitely getting a new single today/this week?
Would have expected a big promo push off tenclub if that we're happening

That's an interesting remark.
that's also all over no code and comes up on almost every album since, to a greater or lesser degree (except maybe binaural, the most lost of the post vitalogy records). The quality will depend on the execution

Ed's 'new agey' writing has never been received well here if I remember correctly.

Unthought Known is to Lightning Bolt (probably) as Ole is to Mind Your Manners. Hopefully a second pass at an idea that gets it right.

I listened to Unthought Known last night while I was pacing with Mia and it's such a great song for two minutes and then just treads water in a place not interesting enough to linger for as long as it does. Lightning bolt seems to have a lot more movement to it.

If it is in an interesting song people don't seem to care. I don't think it's his lyrical strongpoint, personally (he's a better seeker than a prophet), and so the lyrics are not necessarily in a place to elevate a song that otherwise may have needed it.

New AF single is brilliant IMO.

And that last noisy verse, the "all the problems, they won't die with you" part, is actually a crescendo as opposed to a nothing.

So Arcade Fire have disappointed you and you're looking for PJ to make up for it?

This sounds like a dangerous position to be in, may as well just end it all now.

The torch has been handed from PJ to The Arcade Fire, for me. What I mean is they are now the 1 band I expect to put out a stunning album each time. I still think PJ has it in them, and I'm more excited for this album than anything since Yield, but AF is lightyears ahead of PJ now.

Ohhh ya, Dime. I just re-read your post and I took it the wrong way. You're straight up screwed now.

Arcade Fire is a band I really want to like, and kinda like, and there are a few great songs on each of their albums, but we keep moving right past each other. Haven't heard the new song yet.

Keep listening. I'm not a fan of disco either.

How does their new song feel about growing up in the suburbs? Is it pro or con?

 LB is my favorite song from this band in a long time. Maybe since All or None (or a few other tracks from Riot Act). It's so damn catchy.

Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:so, sirens today? or did that all just turn out to be rumor?
I'm pretty sure its just a rumour. And i don't think anyone said today specifically either, just 'soon'.

The possibly 'new-agey' vibe is worrying me, or well not really worrying, but dampening my excitement.

I don't even usually like arcade fire but the new single made decent background music, as in i forgot it was on but didn't feel compelled to turn it off out of hatred/dissapointment/embarassment. Your move PJ.

The Suburbs is full of a sometimes cynical but generally warm, playful nostalgia.

This new song isn't really about that.

I should probably take this to the Other Bands forum, but what the hell is this song about? Someone said the music video helps enforce the message. So the song is about doing copious amounts of lsd?

I just wrote a short post about what it means to me in the other thread.
