Ed chill it with the passive voice! "I wish it was not you that she had led"?! What?!

Ed's little country guitar lick at the beginning and end of this song is adorable.

Re: Comes Then Goes
This song is actually pretty decent. I wish it had got a little Thin Air treatment. A little drumming, a little movement.

Re: Comes Then Goes
It's not grammar -- the grammar is fine. Part of what I admire about songwriting is finding a graceful way of conveying an idea that is both aesthetically pleasing (in terms of how it sounds) and also poetic. Ed can be really bad at it sometimesEJ wrote:stop paying attention to grammar, fools

Re: Comes Then Goes
that lyric flows nicely though. With the exception of the one you highlighted earlier the ending of each of the verses hit in a quietly powerful waytheplatypus wrote:Ed chill it with the passive voice! "I wish it was not you that she had led"?! What?!

I really want this song to be a Stone/Ed song played live with Jeff or Matt doing the backing vocals.

This is Ed on guitar right? Do wish it was Stone. Reminds me of Footsteps in a way. I guess because it's just Ed and a guitar.

Re: Comes Then Goes
I like this song a lot, though it's an interesting choice to keep it pretty much solo (I thought I heard a guitar doing some feedback thing near the end). I wonder how it would have worked with a vibe along the lines of 10 Billion Years or Thin Air; there's been a few songs over the years that show this version of the band can pull that stuff off.

I know it's probably way too early, but does anyone want to take a guess as to what the chords are?

When I first heard this it musically reminded me of Cornell. After reading the lyrics that have been posted, I definitely think it's about Cornell.VinylGuy wrote:you guys think its about chris?
