Ed should have sang on top of that opening jam instead, could have grooved on that and led into the chorus and back into the jam. The verses kill this song or me.
Also agree it doesn’t sound like Springsteen at all

The guitar tones and effects scream Pink Floyd, particularly in the chorus.gardenparty wrote:People really need to stop saying "Pink Floyd influenced".

There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

The paralelism with Bruce is obvious in this one, I don't think it can be argued.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Uh.......if you say so buddyVindicator wrote:that it sounds exactly like Bruce SpringsteenLoathedVermin72 wrote:Uh, your point?Vindicator wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3eu1gW-bQ8LoathedVermin72 wrote:Agree with thisVindicator wrote:The verses are absolutely fucking horrible. Re: Seven O'Clock
heh, other way around for me. I find the chorus enjoyable and the outro decent if cheesy. I just can't stand the verses.Ms Harmless wrote:the verses are absolutely the prettiest highlight of this song and what's supposed to be its climax is underwritten, so that's frustrating
but I'll live with it, because those verses are worth the price of admission

It's odd. I like this song, but I cannot remember how the music goes when I'm not listening (same is true of never destination, retrograde, and take the long way). I do remember the vocal melody

I like this more with each listen. The chorus does not veer into cheese territory for me and I think Ed sounds about as good as he can on this.

If I didn't know who was singing the verses before that first chorus section, I would have guessed Bruce immediately.

Re: Seven O'Clock
It’s probably been said but it’s very REM-y. Not a bad thing. Sort of that somber but kinda meandering and happy vibe going on.
