It's true. His masterful use of paragraphs is next to none.dimejinky99 wrote:Least he uses paragraphs.

How do we notify potential leakers that RM is a safe place, and to always leak stuff post midnight Seattle time.

True story: this album has sucked for less time than your posting has.

And I actually like that Arcade Fire song, so it's about time I start listening to them again. I am also all for a PJ disco album. And a cover album, a heavy metal one, and something really experimental.
Back to the possible singles: Future days and Lightning Bolt take turns in my head, so they definately have hit potential. And if Sirens becomes a single, and if it gets airplay, I would guess it would be their first number 1 hit since long. Because it is good.

I have one more question about Sirens: does it feel related to, or an improvement on, Inside Job? If not, what previous songs does it remind you of?

I am all for tree hugging but for me, the red line (;)) is when it borders religious talk. No matter if it is about a god or something else. I have to trust they are not suddenly starting a cult and that there is still enough sharpness in the lyrics to counter quotes like 'I believe, I believe'. I still like this song, by the way:harmless wrote:Indeed. It seems like the social justice / tree-hugging identity-political angle might be a logical one to take for a previously angry band that isn't angry anymore. Exhibit A. Incubus. Their tree-hugging sensibilities have led them to make the worst album ever by a wide margin. But it's still a form of quiet non-violent resistance, so that youth is still somewhere in there. If that makes any sense at all.Mine wrote:That's an interesting remark.Mirella wrote: A happy album at first glance but there is a lot going on in the lyrics. The fanclub has been a cult for years! But I know what you mean, totally.

Pearl Jam's experimental album: everyone plays instruments with their opposite hand (Matt, we'll figure out something for you), and the song each band member is most proud of having written, respectively, gets left off the album entirely.Mirella wrote:agreedharmless wrote:True story: this album has sucked for less time than your posting has..

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
I think Inside Job is more fragile and personal. Sirens, for what I know after this only time, is more a love/goodbye/comfort song. Although I just checked my notes again and it even has the word 'fragile' in the lyrics. I can not name a similar song. Or one to group this one with.harmless wrote:Awesome.Mirella wrote:agreedharmless wrote:True story: this album has sucked for less time than your posting has..

If they do go with "Sirens" as a single, they need to make an over-the-top video with choreography and dolphins and dolphin choreography.
