This really is the perfect song for this particular apocalypse.

Re: Buckle Up
This reminds me of Paul Simon. Especially the main guitar part.

Yeah I still love this, Ed does a nice job on the delivery.
Gdamn I love that quirky, groovy, bastard Stone Gossard.

Re: Buckle Up
This will definitely be piss break song if I ever get to see them live again. Definitely some cool stuff going on with the guitars but I hate the vocals.

Not sure what I think of this one so far. Good music but the vocal delivery is gonna take some getting used to

I've missed abstraction and mystery in Pearl Jam's music

The way he sings "buckle up" sounds like he's strapping a toddler in the carseat before heading to the grocery store.

Re: Buckle Up
This would go nicely with Around the Bend. Both soothing lullabies that are also kind of creepy.

I wish I liked this song more. I typically favor anything Stone does, but this one just isn't doing it for me. And, I think it comes down to Ed on this one. Stone's quirky vocals would've worked much better for me.

I haven’t listened to Moonlander (should I?), but I love Bayleaf, and this would’ve fit perfectly on that with Stone on vox.EJ wrote:I wish I liked this song more. Listen to Moonlander. It's filled with weird and wonderful songs. One or two clunkers but the rest is so good.

Re: Buckle Up
Matt is doing something so cool during the sax part (and a few times elsewhere): a bass drum on the "2" of the second bar (I think it's in 3/4 if I remember my time signatures); adds a real funk to the summery lilt

Re: Buckle Up
I love you Stone but this is my least favorite song on Gigaton thus far. Maybe I will warm to it. It just doesn’t do anything emotionally for me. The heaps of praise astound me like the praise that “Force of Nature” is continually bestowed.

I felt that too! I think stone’s vocals on this would sound great. It would have been nice to have him do backing.littlecomment wrote:It sounds like Ed is aping Stone's vocal style to the point that I wondering if it was actually him the first time I heard it.

Re: Buckle Up
i'm betting stone did a full demo of this and EV is doing a faithful(l) version of that.Fattie_Vedder wrote:I felt that too! I think stone’s vocals on this would sound great.
