Re: Never Destination
This is probably in the bottom two for me with SBWM but I still enjoy it. That is why this is such a great album, the weakest songs aren't even bad.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

On my 2nd listen i found myself thinking that they dont need to play arms aloft anymore. I havent listened to arms aloft recently to see if they actually are similar but its the song that kept popping into my head

Re: Never Destination
There's kind of an Antichrist Television Blues style on a few of these songs. That wordier, Subterranean Homesick Blues kind of thing. Where the lyrics keep coming a mile a minute, and it just keeps going.

Re: Never Destination
someone (kevin davis?) noted that wordier songs may be easier for ed to sing than songs with fewer lyrics and sustained notes. that’s when his vowel affectations pop upFarmer John wrote:There's kind of an Antichrist Television Blues style on a few of these songs. Re: Never Destination
the shuffly drum groove and the vocal delivery reminds me of "Satan's Bed" - "it's all been said, been said and done!"
this one keeps climbing for me

Re: Never Destination
I'm on board with this. I'm a big Tom fan and it's still hard to fathom that he is gone. The ode to him at the end of the song is a great tribute. Plus the song sounds great to these ears.BootsToAsses wrote:This song should be getting more love.
When I first heard that little Tom Petty bit near the end, I teared up. Ed has so obviously lifted the melody directly from "Listen To Her Heart", and yet it still fits perfectly and doesn't seem out of place. It's a lovely little tribute.
Ed is going to have fun with this one at the live shows.

Hmmm I can see that. MFC for the style and sound, BOJ for the “chunkiness” and warmth of the guitars. It’s got the flowing looseness of MFC with the sharper, harder edges of BOJ.Ms Harmless wrote:this sounds more and more like a combination of "Brain of J" and "MFC", and I'm so surprised to be saying that

Late to the party.
I'm digging this one. Guitar sounds a bit like Footsteps.
The sound on this album is what I hoped for. Delicious.

Re: Never Destination
Isn't the main chords the same from the beginning of Lightning Bolt chorus? And the bridge reminds me from U. And Eddie vocal melody on verses is something close from what he does in Slow Night So Long with Kings of Leon.
Anyway, fun track and the last half is good good.

one of the reasons this works so well is that Ed leaves some spaces

Re: Never Destination
haven't listened to the song but did just listen to the clip they released. i've just assumed, based on the descriptions, that this and take the long way were to be my lease favorites. i read "post-punk rocker" and thought "supersonic". i have no idea what part of the song the 15 second clip is, but it sounds nothing like supersonic to me and my fear is assuaged.
