Re: Quick Escape
This is gonna sound weird, but this is the song that sounds best while looking at the album cover.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I wouldn't say it's a song I particularly enjoy while listening to, at least not at this point.
Perhaps I'll feel differently once I can hear it without the transcode murk, but I'm a little doubtful.

this is a great question. we should all think about this as our project for the day.guitar_davey wrote:Absolutelyevenslow wrote:committed, on fire, almost desperate. those sentiments don't match "i'm JA and i'm 57."McParadigm wrote:No way I thought this band would ever sound like the last minute of this song again
they brought it.
Name another "rock" song by a band 30 years in, with the guys all in their 50's, that grooves that hard and sounds that lively and unhinged. There might even be one, so let me know, but this has to be way up there.

the only band that could possibly compare for me is NIN, but I can't think of a particular exampleevenslow wrote:this is a great question. we should all think about this as our project for the day.guitar_davey wrote:Absolutelyevenslow wrote:committed, on fire, almost desperate. those sentiments don't match "i'm JA and i'm 57."McParadigm wrote:No way I thought this band would ever sound like the last minute of this song again

Re: Quick Escape
This is currently my second favorite song on the album (behind Who Ever Said). Like many others are saying I like the groove of this song. Not only that but this song rocks hard! Probably the heaviest song on the album with that closing guitar solo alone. The guitar solo gives me Ten vibes big time and the groove is very much like No Way.

some 30 years in (give or take) candidates:
Rolling Stones - You Got Me Rocking
U2 - No Line on the Horizon
REM - Discoverer
Metallica - ???
Red Hot Chili Peppers - ???
Rush - ???
nothing i can think of is anywhere close to the playing and ferocious energy found on Quick Escape.

Yes! It has that little bit of a stomp that I enjoy from No Way.Ms Harmless wrote:I heard No Way tooGigalogy84 wrote:This is currently my second favorite song on the album (behind Who Ever Said). Re: Quick Escape
I'd be very surprised if anyone voted 1 or 2 for this song. I think that's impossible. The vote for 3 is kind of a head scratcher but hey everyone has their opinions.

Re: Quick Escape
Very similar groove it’s just way heavier and more sludgy (and I fucking love No Way). I want PJ writing more of these mid-tempo stomps.Ms Harmless wrote:I heard No Way tooGigalogy84 wrote:This is currently my second favorite song on the album (behind Who Ever Said). Re: Quick Escape
I agree. I would have loved another mid-tempo track like this one included in the second half of Gigaton.darthvedder81 wrote:Very similar groove it’s just way heavier and more sludgy (and I fucking love No Way). Re: Quick Escape
That's probably a pretty complete list of candidates. I can't think of a latter-day song from any of those bands that beats this one.evenslow wrote:some 30 years in (give or take) candidates:
