sell it to me, what do you like about it? it sounds BoB'ed
The melody is killer and the tone is warm and melodic. When BoB added this stuff on LB, it sounded like some lame synthetic plug-in he found online
It's definitely poppier, which I think made most of Lightning Bolt a bit lame, but I think it's melodically inventive - I feel like it was the idea of one of the guys (Jeff?), as opposed to the producer.
Also, I'm considering that it might be a guitar effect and not a synth...?

that's intriguing! I would be happier to hear it was a guitar I think
Are we talking about that brief bit of synth-y lead around 1:44? I love that bit.
Listening on headphones now, there's a wonkiness to it which leads to me think it might have been played on guitar (there are certainly plenty of synth-inspired pedals that could do it) but I don't see how it's better or worse either way.

I don't think it would be better sonically to know it was guitar, I just can't help feeling that it sounds pointless because it doesn't appear anywhere else in the song, and it appears right before a guitar line that's much more powerful

I think if it went straight into a post-chorus guitar solo, it'd be too close to the song Lightning Bolt. I like the wrinkle.
My 2nd favorite on this album, behind quick escape. I had the impression from reviews that this would be similar to SBWM (which I like), so I was surprised when I heard this the first time, and it made me really excited to hear the rest.
