I feel like it should be pretty clear listening to LB and Gigaton back to back. And im not talking about quality of song/songwriting.
A few knobs were definitely turned the wrong way over the course of LB the song.

My link wasn’t active anymore. And he isn’t necessarily my friend, he just reached out to me today. He got the link thanks to a kind RMer.

I think Billy Squire was a huge unconscious inspiration for this album. I mean sonically not lyrically. I feel like when you put. KISS Springsteen Iron Maiden Petty Woody Guthrie The Who Clash Michael Jackson and Ufo in a blender you get Billy Squire or 30 year old Pearl Jam

When hearing new music from them, I ask myself "would I be listening to this shit if it wasn't from Pearl Jam?" Over the last 15 years, the answer has been an emphatic "lol fuck no", but I think this one mostly passes the test, even though I don't listen to this type of thing as much anymore.

Quick Escape is already in there. I think Who Ever Said has a shot at top #25 also. It’s a great opener and despite it being somewhat of a typical Eddie song you can really hear each band members contributions (Stone’s weird counter melodies, Mike’s blistering fills and solo, Matt’s best Keith Moon impression and Jeff Ament’s bass riffage).

I'm fairly surprised at how many different songs have ended up stuck in my head over the past few days, and not ones I would expect. "Take the Long Way," "Comes Then Goes," and today, "Retrograde." I've woken up with "Superblood" kicking around in there too.

Was thinking about this earlier...Binaural was the last Pearl Jam album for me that had more than one 5* songs. Since then its been max 1 top shelf song per album (LB had none). I legitimately think this new album has three 5* songs on it.

I keep hearing Never Destination in my head, and it’s not even a top three song for me. Some catchy choruses.

Yeah, that's the thing--my favorites right now are "Quick Escape" and "Alright," but others are creeping up for sure. Hooks!
