I feel the same way about Parachutes as I do Avocado as a whole - it's fine, even good in places; it makes me sort of nostalgic for a time when my fandom was still pretty fanatic; but, I just don't like what I hear as being the major influence of the song (The Beatles); I don't like The Who too much either, but they are much more deeply embedded in PJ's bones so 1. I live with their influence, 2. it's often produced better songs

I do miss Eddie drawing heavily from Neil Young, though

I don't relate to this criticism of music in general (I listen to plenty of music that just lingers in the same space for far longer than this extremely short song), but even putting that aside, I'd offer that song dynamics, i.e. assembling distinct verses, choruses, bridges, etc., in a coherent manner, hasn't really been one of this band's strengths for some time. There are so many songs on the last three records that have verses and choruses that just don't feel like they go together at all, or choruses that completely let down the potential of an otherwise good song, that I'm inclined to see the kind of "stagnation" this song practices as an instance of the band (possibly inadvertently) playing to its current strengths.

This song is a huge breath of fresh air to me. It has an organic effortlessness seldom seen since Riot Act.

I like when he sings aggressively so much more.

I possibly could’ve liked this song with a young ed singing, but I’m not even sure about that. It’s the only song on Gigaton that I can’t connect to at all. I don’t necessarily hate it, It’s just a nothing song to me.

Still getting familiar with this one and hoping it grows on me more. First thought was that they were taking a stab at a murder ballad.

I think it fits well in the context of the album and really like the transition at the end into Comes Then Goes.

I love this one, especially the kazoo part.

It's incredibly odd: "Bed sores and sponges" and "Buckle Up" lyrics. A lullaby. A kazoo ditty. Placed 9 songs into the album. Juxtaposed with an album cover of a melting glacier...You need artistic balls to do this.
