Lightning Bolt -- this will be more neutered and 'nice' than the live version, but ultimately the best of the clunkers
SBM -- this will be really weird, even annoyingly so, until sometime down the line it clicks and becomes genius
FD -- this will be meh but a pretty way to end the album
My thoughts as well.
I'm not expecting LB to be anything more than an upbeat straight ahead rock song. That's not a bad thing. The following songs are also easy to play live

Brain of J
Grievance
Save You
Animal
Go
Hail Hail
Everything off of Ten

Again, LB may suck but I don't think 'a song that makes sense live' is a problem in itself
True. But I would question Grievance being on the 'easy to play live' list, at least rhythmically. The band could struggle to keep up with Matt's parts without rehearsal.
basically strat said everything I wanted to say and I didn't read his comment until after I posted this. Grievance is a song that won't necessarily lose much transferring to a live setting (it's not heavily dependent on atmosphere, the right setting, etc), and it isn't a long brooding song. It's basically a song that will sustain the momentum of a show. Lightning Bolt is the same way (assuming it's good). I'm not sure that comment means much more than that.

To be fair, it wasn't build-up caused by 10C, just idiots starting rumours.

It doesn't need to be more than that if it delivers on the promise of the song itself

Good acoustic driven song, reminiscent of NAIS. Eddie repeats 'hear the sirens...hear the sirens' and then something about a circus. Good stuff.

"Grievance" is a lot trickier than those other songs you listed, Stip. It has a lot more detail to the arrangement.

Any of you been fired yet over this Lightning Bolt?

Didn't they release Mind Your Manners at about 3 or 4 eastern time?

I'm psyched for this album. My only slight concern is some of it being too "cock rock" for lack of a better term. I'm not sure how to take these GnR comparisons for Sirens. I grew up with GnR, so I don't hate them, but...worlds colliding a bit. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Related to that, here's one for you all: most cock rock PJ song? Go...

i think it was 3, but it also had a countdown and all that stuff, i would kinda be surprised if they just threw a new single out there with no real lead up to it

Not yet but hopefully they won't start closely monitoring my internet activity. "Who the fuck is a red mosquito?"
