so as not to rewrite history, lightning bolt was about as well reviewed at the time as their standard albums

I wonder how much this guy got paid to write 1/4 of a review.

Yep. Don't really seem to recall it being that "critically unsuccessful", at the time. Feels like the reviewer merely projecting their personal opinion, though, I suppose that's all any review really is, at the end of the day.

Metacritic has LB at a 73, equivalent to Riot Act, compared to a 74 for Avocado, with Binaural coming in at a 69, for whatever it's worth.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

It was a lazy review...the title highlighted that they deserve a comeback of “epic proportions” but the review itself was pretty weak, content wise.

But....you're not considered one year old the day that you're born, amirite?

Quick Escape & Take the Long way makin' moves! I'm really enthusiastic to see your shifting rankings, day by day. Makes me think there'll be plenty to love here

Absolutely. It's a great album. I need to hear the top quality version to fully decide how I feel. Even the worst song is decent, while the top songs are great.
