Rating every song in a full point scale, out of a possible 5.

Ive been hoping for a nice 'slow' acoustic song and wow, comes and goes is exactly what i wanted. soooooooo good.

Only listened through it once but got some really good songs and eddie singing well on most of them - not struggling to much. Bit of a change in his delivery and digging it. Like the songs basically flow out of one and into the other. Like the no sudden end of song then start again. Some good intros/mucking around. Backing vocals/harmonies are good.

SOngs other than the 2 singles:
Who Ever Said - Really good opener, chorus is catchy
Quick escape - a good rocker, got me nodding me head
Alright - like the quietness and lyrics are delivered well, haunting almost. Reminds me of another song, maybe a b-side but cant quite put my finger on it
Seven O'Clock - didnt start as a song i liked much but by the end was really enjoying it - lyric delivery is like a boss song at times
Never Destination - Superblood Wolfmoon #2 - similar tempo/delivery - good rocker
Take the Long Way - another good rocker - different lyric delivery and it pays off, breaks it up a little bit
Buckle Up - probably my least favorite and would be a mood killer at a concert, but you need slow songs. The whole 'buckle up' is nice but a bit boring - nice guitar in the background - presuming stone.
Come then Goes - one listen to the album only and this is the best song on that listen - just loved it. Presume an eddie guitar song which normally dont translate well to the bands album but this one does.
Retrograde - one of the weaker songs - could be a 2nd half album on lightning bolt but does finish very strong.
River Cross - An eddie song that doesnt translate all that well and another album ender that isnt great. might grow on me, who knows

Got me excited to listen to it more, bonus of corona virus i guess - plenty of time on my hands to listen to it.

Lotta good songs. I've been wondering the past couple of days if SBWM is a 4-star for me at the moment. Maybe a soft 4, because I'm not convinced it will last. But I liked it before, and like it more now in context.

The momentum is a bit better in the presented format, but the songs absolutely hold up. This album is magnificent.

I liked your presentation so I marked up my own version. LOVE this album. I think Retro could have been left out and RC coulda been a hidden track.

Regardless... So impressed. After 1 listen I kinda hated it... Which has always been a good indicator that I'll come to love it and it will stand the test of time as a great album.

I bet you would have taken "two 5 star songs plus three 4 star songs" for this new release if offered it a few months ago. I know I would have.
What are your thoughts, Higgs?

Who Ever Said - a Pearl Jam album opener done right - notably no fade out
SBWM - I get why it was released as a single. It's catchy and has the potential to be popular with the masses if it had the opportunity of broad exposure.
DOTC - Masterpiece - and as above...and even moreso...
Quick Escape - a song I didn't know PJ had in them. Absolutely one for the casual fan (or "rock" music fan) but I suppose unlikely to connect to a younger audience...
Alright - binaural-ish, quirky, and well placed from an album sequence point of view.
Seven O'clock - I just wish this sounded one degree less like Springsteen in the vocal delivery. It's otherwise a very very solid PJ song that gets better with each listen.
Never Destination - the album needs a rocker at this point. It's not a highlight but enjoyable enough ...borderline Lightning Bolt-era filler.
Take the Long Way - A Soundgarden-ish sound early into the song and I'm nodding my head the whole way through
Buckle Up - very Stone Gossard and one a casual fan may not ever get into...
Come then Goes - fits in very neatly at this point. Campfire song that Ed just nails - somehow feels more like a PJ song over an Eddie solo effort.
Retrograde - Has Lightning Bolt-era written all over it, save the outro, but would have preferred something more uptempo and is a weaker point of the album to be harsh.
River Cross - Feels a degree over-produced and would prefer it be a stripped down closer. I suspect this one will grow on me though...Pearl Jam has a habit of doing that in their album tracks ;)

I've tried splitting the album into two EPs, one with the best six songs, and the other with the six lesser songs. The top six EP, which was outlined by LV earlier runs very smoothly. But it's also interesting hearing the bottom six together. Sort of elevates some songs.

The album order with SBWM, ND and RC omitted is fine by me.
