Gigaton: Official album thread

I used the regular ol cheap route
I only placed my order the other day after i heard the leak
Figured try and get the order in before they shut down because of the virus
I ordered the gigaton vinyl in the same order too

Wonderful late-career album, and most assuredly deserving of its four-star status.

Although while assessing the album's sonic and thematic structure, I'm left wondering if it may have benefited from a few tracks being held over on recent, previous albums.

With the advantage of hindsight, there's a slight 'what may have been' impression, similar to Binaural. And on that note, Alright definitely impresses as a Binaural era cut - quite possibly the love child of Fatal and Strangest Tribe.

Not much to critique with the abundance of songs that I enjoy from the album. Although going electric out of the bridge for Comes Then Goes may have conveyed a needed release for the simmering emotion sustained throughout.

I'd consider the following track list for Gigaton a five-star album, equaling their greatest work.

I ordered my CD from Amazon Prime and it's still saying they can't give me an estimated delivery date. Seems weird, for most releases they're usually right on time on release date.

The first half of this album is so good. Seven O'Clock is creepin' up my list.

Never Destination still a throwaway that would benefit from BS and LB never having existed and producing similar throwaways.

Take the Long Way improves each listen, but I don't think it'll ever become a favourite.

Buckle Up might be my number one now.

Comes then Goes would've been a great closer.

I'm usually zoning out/falling asleep for the last two songs, but that's more a function of when I've been listening to this thing.

Got my cd on east coast of Maryland today

Packaging is nice and slick...icebergs kind of shimmer as does the water

This thing is somehow better every time i hear it

I havent felt that way since binaural

This is this second run thru with the cd

Its exceeded my expectations sonically comparing to the one that was out there

Comes and goes strings are right in the middle of the soundstage at the moment, and its still got enough low end bass to vibrate the walls/floor

Anyone notice the recording studio credits?

something that struck me on my latest listen is how well every single song ends - either with a cool bridge style outro, jam, or solid moment of punctuation. it really helps each song stick

I still don't understand what happened between Can't Deny Me and this album, the difference in (production AND song) quality is staggering. Having listened to this album consistently over the past few days I feel more and more confident it is one of their best yet. Interesting to me that it's an album that they probably could never have come up with 20+ years ago, but an album only a group hungry to prove something and make something interesting could create. Pretty amazing.

Enjoying Buckle Up more and more with each listen too, really sticking with me, what a great way to split the album. Can someone tell me what part of the vocal is Stone's? Surely not all of it?
